Seems to be the only Bethesda game that Steam flagged for the review bomb.

EDIT: Check the comments for the tweet that sparked the stupid outrage. A screenshot from the newest Indiana Jones game.

Why? Is there a Charlie Kirk mod where you get to press X to give him the finger while he's in the Demon Realm for his hateful spewing?

[-] [email protected] 17 points 6 hours ago

I don't even know which setting I am using for this

[-] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

IDK but please figure it out and then LMK

[-] [email protected] 18 points 7 hours ago

I hope those people get a ban from reviewing games or something. I know it's difficult for some people to imagine, but most of us just want to know about the damn game.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 1 hour ago

I hear you but I disagree, I absolutely support the right to use means like reviews to boycott companies. It's just being done for all the wrong reasons here

[-] [email protected] 25 points 6 hours ago

They won't get banned but Steam will likely mark this wave as "Off-topic review activity". When this happens you can toggle visibility of these reviews.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 5 hours ago

Thanks I wasn't fully aware of this action, and it seems better for folks who want to game to escape. I'll be checking this setting shortly.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 6 hours ago

I reported some of those as "political argument that is unrelated to the game, developer or publisher", I don't think anything will happen tho

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 hours ago

Same here, I reported them all for "Political argument that is unrelated to the game, developer or publisher"

[-] [email protected] 5 points 5 hours ago

It doesn't happen immediately but it does happen.

A few years ago, there was a wave of dumbfucks who would visit cosy games and spam "Woke" and "DEI" over and over in the forums/reviews. I don't even see it anymore.

Going to bet the edge lords got Shadow banned or something.

I disagree, there have been many times in the past where review bombing a game works out for the right reasons.

If there were more right wing idiots then they might've been successful

[-] [email protected] 3 points 6 hours ago

Sadly, steam heavily disagrees with this statement. They would rather have full opinions allowed regardless, and then delist them when reported as offtopic so they still appear, but don't show in the score.

I disagree with that mentality as well, since I'm sick of seeing games have shit reviews, then look at them and its because of something that the parent company did instead of it being about the game itself.

They do the same shit with steam discussions. I heavily think they should community ban people reported for using the clown reaction award with the intent to be rude or mean to the person they are awarding it to, and the people doing blatent circlejerk/rage baiting in the communities, but until it becomes a problem that risks them getting investigated again like before, they won't.

The context surrounding a game is important, though. these are just Nazis and should have their opinion disregarded, but all of Nintendo's slop should be hated purely for the context of Nintendo being evil. any developer than stands for good things should also get a boost in positive reviews too (although that doesn't happen enough, maybe because the only ones i can think of off hand are just good regardless?).

Wait till they find out that in Wolfenstein you get to kill tons of Charlie Kirk's in fun ways and celebrate each one of them with achievements and rewards ❤️

[-] [email protected] 54 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Kinda funny that Wolfenstein games didn't receive as many of these reviews as Doom Eternal. There's only 10 or so.

From Doom Eternal:

Charlie Kirk was not a fascist. Charlie Kirk was a father, a wonderful husband, and someone who wanted the best for everyone! When you want to get rid of someone, you accuse them of being a fascist! No one has betrayed this society more than you have!

[-] [email protected] 49 points 9 hours ago

I replied to that one lol

[-] [email protected] 17 points 9 hours ago

Wanted the best for everyone but Paul Pelosi, women, minorities…

[-] [email protected] 24 points 10 hours ago

Who's is you? Has this game betrayed this country? So confused.

[-] [email protected] 32 points 9 hours ago

Fascists.

We know fascists are idiots, but we have to call them by the praxis they act on, lest we slip to their tactics.

[-] [email protected] 30 points 9 hours ago

"No one deserved what you suffered"... well I have some good news for you, he didn't suffer a bit. He was unconscious and then dead before anyone could get to him

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 hours ago

That's really the worst news to come out of this whole event. Hopefully the folks down in naraka let him know full well what happened and why he's there.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 5 hours ago

How dare you report on the truth. Im banning you from being a late night host.

[-] [email protected] 53 points 10 hours ago

"I do not support death cults" must be the epitome of clueless irony.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 8 hours ago

Kirk is part of an apocalyptic former death cult (cult status lost due to population size).

There are reasons to hate Bethesda but this isn't one of them

[-] [email protected] 20 points 9 hours ago

well tbf bethesda did fuck up by deleting it therefore implying they actually have a point even though they definitely dont

[-] [email protected] 11 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

yea but that's also PR 101, something causing bad PR? delete it. It would have been worse leaving it up as well because that shows a "we know that people can see a potential connection and we don't care and by not deleting it we agree with the connection"

Bethesda was in a Lose Lose here because regardless of their action, the crowd that was pissed about this would have been pissed, because in their eyes the connection is already solid.

Damned if you do, Damned if you don't

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 hours ago

It's pr 101 because any advanced class would tell you to keep it up anyway. If they take it down the validate the backlash. If they keep it up they can either undermine the backlash or ride it higher if there are less nazis than there are normal people. There is also a problem with taking it down: the nazis are kinda correct that Bethesda is anti nazi, Indiana Jones and Wolfenstein? Yeah, they demonstrably have no love for their ilk and cowering away from that won't help them.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 31 minutes ago* (last edited 29 minutes ago)

I don't agree that any advance class would contradict the beginner class. Being said, yea they could keep it up, they would be riding it right into the open flames, but they could. Them taking it down takes it off radar, the source material is no longer there, and any potential misunderstanding while will temporarily take heat for the people saying "yea see it was taken down obviously that's the meaning", but then what? there's no source material. Doubling down on your statement will create /more/ material for the targeting group, so not only is the original source available, now the double down "this is what we meant by this" will be available, which will do everything /but/ calm the flames down because those groups are definitely not going to change their mind from a corporate account saying "This is not what we mean't".

You can't win with PR like this, your best option is to not play, and in this case it's just removing the content regardless of intent.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 5 hours ago

Wasn't it a Twitter post? Marketing firms do that all the time. And it's Twitter, so nothing lost.

[-] [email protected] 49 points 11 hours ago

Somewhere in hell doom slayer is punching the inside of Charlie Kirk's skull

[-] [email protected] 26 points 11 hours ago

anybody know what the tweet said?

[-] [email protected] 101 points 11 hours ago

It was a clip from the upcoming DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Indy sees a cat, and says “You don’t care much about these Fascists, do you?”

Of course insane people assumed this was about Charlie Kirk.

[-] [email protected] 66 points 11 hours ago

Major “if the shoe fits” moment there

[-] [email protected] 62 points 11 hours ago

I think it's this one. As others said, the picture is Indy talking to the cat, saying "You don't care much about these Fascists, do you?" - https://www.thegamer.com/bethesda-indiana-jones-and-the-great-circle-charlie-kirk-tweet-deleted/

[-] [email protected] 13 points 7 hours ago

It’s a trailer with one clip of Indy saying this. Them taking offense to this says far more about them than it does about Bethesda or Indiana Jones.

[-] [email protected] 62 points 10 hours ago

Still baffles me that is the same crowd that would scream "snowflakes" and do this sort of mental gymnastic LMAO

[-] [email protected] 31 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

That's how fascists operate. Learn their DisVic, learn RMVP.

[-] [email protected] 25 points 10 hours ago

The quartering popping up for a post mocking fascists. So weird

[-] [email protected] 5 points 5 hours ago

He should follow through on his name amd get quartered

[-] [email protected] 25 points 11 hours ago

It was a screenshot from the Indiana Jones game of Indy petting a cat saying "You don't care much for these fascists, do you?" They captioned the screenshot with "good kitty".
