I know that the economy is much worse now, but this new term "job hugging" has just been the reality for millions of working class people for decades.

"Now, with paychecks stretched by rising costs, many are clinging to stability even if they're dissatisfied."

Man, wouldn’t it have been wild if corporations pushed profit-driven inflation while suppressing wages in order to end the only employee-favored period of the job market in the last 20 years? Gosh that would almost suggest that the business owners are leveraging their power in the political economy to keep the working class, wouldn’t that be funny haha.

It’s more, people used to stay with a company because you’d get promotions and raises…. But that stopped so then people used to job hop for a raise because companies no longer reward you for staying with them. Now, with so many places fucking firing 59% of the workforce every other year, having less than 2 years with a company is scary, and they’d rather be sure they do have a job instead of one that pays slightly better but will drop them in a year and then they’re scrambling year after year to find something.

That’s a bingo.

This exactly. I wish I job hopped more when I had the chance. Now I feel like I need to to raise my salary, but it doesn't feel worth the risk.

honestly I would have quit my job a year ago if there were any other alternative... in the past it was pretty easy to hop from job to job, but i've been applying and interviewing for over a year with no good prospects. I'm just barely hanging onto the job I have that I never quite fit and never really will fit.

Ima quiet quit my job to take a micro retirement before I bare back my job hug

Back in the day people would work solely out of respect for their boss, who they wanted to make even richer than before. Now they're just selfishly working for themselves and their families!
