I know that the economy is much worse now, but this new term "job hugging" has just been the reality for millions of working class people for decades.

It’s more, people used to stay with a company because you’d get promotions and raises…. But that stopped so then people used to job hop for a raise because companies no longer reward you for staying with them. Now, with so many places fucking firing 59% of the workforce every other year, having less than 2 years with a company is scary, and they’d rather be sure they do have a job instead of one that pays slightly better but will drop them in a year and then they’re scrambling year after year to find something.

This exactly. I wish I job hopped more when I had the chance. Now I feel like I need to to raise my salary, but it doesn't feel worth the risk.
