Ah, you must also have been part of the original Digg exodus then?
Yes but I actually liked Kevin, I enjoyed all the side video podcast and skits they did on the side.
Oh yeah the whole gang was great for a while, until it all got fucked.
Why only 15 years?! Why can do better!
It seems a bit laggy to me, but that's hardly surprising. I hope we can form a good little community of outsiders here! ๐
Can you tell me what's laggy? Only thing I noticed is the 'Post' or 'Reply' that takes too long.
Pretty much everything has a bit of lag on my end. Not complaining, I understand why, just letting you know.
Is this where the cool kids are hanging these days? (Just joined as a refugee from that other place)
No just the grumpy old people. ๐
Over 2k5 already. Stats page says 2.52k
Mildly Infuriating has nearly hit that milestone too! I am so excited for the future of Lemmy! GG everyone! ๐๐
That's great. Is this like the main page or what?
Another Reddit refugee here. I guess after June 30th member numbers will explode?
I hope. So far my friends seem hesitant to leave Reddit.
Ah, give it time. Change is scary. And it is easy to be complacent. But 'luckily' Reddit will chase them to here.
I think the biggest impediment (besides the learning curve of the new format) is the fact that there are many more users and much more activity on Reddit. It will take time to build enough of a user base on lemmy to convince people to join.
That being said, the subreddit blackout starting June 12th will remove that advantage for Reddit. Even if most of the subreddits only participate for 48 hours, that might be sufficient to drive enough people to lemmy that it becomes perceived as a viable alternative.
Fingers crossed!
Hi folks, just joined Lemmy to see what it's all about. This seemed like a good thread (is that the term?) to make a first comment :-)
Sure is! Welcome to the club!
Hurray! My first post here
