From what I can tell I think they distinguish between communists and tankies, they call someone a tankie if they're perceived to be supportive of a regime that the wider community believes to be authoritarian.

They dislike authoritarianism and believe those that support it in the pursuit of communism are ignorant of or are dismissive of any oppression and mistreatment of the population of those countries, whether true or not in reality is not the issue as in their worldview it is true, which is where their animosity comes from.

They're reditors. I remember when they were just as paranoid about shitredditsays.

As a side note, it pisses me off when other supposed leftist spaces are like this too. I was recently browsing r/rabm since I'm doing an angry/hatred playlist and wanted to find some songs and there's way too many anti-tankie leftists there. It sucks.
