The Democrat’s rant has sparked calls for her to resign over her bigoted language.

The scary part isn't the Islamaphobia. That's just because it's easy sound bites based on his name. The real scary part is how much they're trying to attack him, because a democratic socialist mayor in New York can show how shitty Republican solutions have been on solving core problems like wealth inequality. Beyond what Bernie or AOC can do as an individual member of Congress. A mayor is an executive, and new York is big. If he's not trying to line his pockets, he can do real damage to conservatives and establishment Democrats just by showing everyone there's a better way.

...he can do real damage to conservatives and establishment Democrats just by showing everyone there's a better way.

Exactly.

Which is why both Republicans and establishment Democrats are so desperate to malign him — because the dirty little secret of American politics is that the actual meaningful choice is between people who will work for the good of the people as a whole and people who will work only for the good of the wealthiest few. And maintaining the status quo requires stopping people from figuring out that virtually all elections come down to just two somewhat different versions of the latter type.

I've been saying exactly this for 20 years. But all people want to hear is "Are you on MY side, or are you on the OTHER side?"

Uhhhhh, no. There is no sides based on R or D. There's only sides based on $. It's a big club, and you ain't in it.

Yep.

Political power is a commodity, and most of those who hold it today do the exact same thing with it as anyone holding any other commodity - they sell it to the highest bidder.

You say yer life's a bum deal

'N yer up against the wall

Well, people, you ain't even got no kinda

Deal at all

'Cause what they do

In Washington

They just takes care of NUMBER ONE

An' number one ain't you

You ain't even number two

So if I ask if you are on Trump’s side or Harris’ side you would say both sides are the same…

They are the same for the most part. They all work for the same master and it's not you. The only difference between them is that Democrats will willify one maginalized group of people, while Republicans wilify a different marginalized group of people to achive the same goal of you being poor and a slave for the corporate overlords.

Democrats openly support Trump fascism when their masters tell them to. They voted to approve his cabinet nominees, they voted to pass his spending bill, they voted to censure their own party members that hurt Trumps feelings, they voted to block Trump impeachment for illegal war. Any time something might hurt their corporate masters they align with the "biggest threat to US democracy Donald Trump" as they kept saying during the campaign and support it.

So you don’t notice any differences now that Trump is in office?

[-] [email protected] 0 points 6 hours ago

No. Prices are still skyrocketing, robber barons are still robbing everyone blind, US government is still #1 sponsor of terrorism and migrats are still being treated as shit. Same shit as always.

You are allowed to do that. Have a nice day.

If he weren’t a democratic socialist, the establishment would love him. The ultimate neoliberal dream is a brown person who supports their policies.

It doesn’t matter what meaning you have in your brain, it is now how the word is received

Accidentally revealing how establishment hacks like herself have all the power in a "representative" democracy, rather than the likes of Mamdani who are actually on the side of the people and whose policies are popular on their own merit rather than as the result of media spin.

Ok so when I hear her name it makes me puke in my throat and I have to hold back my gag reflex or I will end up vomiting on someone at the grocery store or in the auditorium during my daughter’s recital.

It doesn’t matter what her name means all that matters is projectile vomit.

don’t forget, each senator and congress person has an AIPAC handler… at this point Israeli government is Commanding their aipac handlers to have their dogs (senate and reps) poop on the wall until something sticks.

Good! This is the BEST Strategy Democrats can Employ if they WISH to WIN BACK all those Muslims and Palestinians that SAT OUT OR VOTED FOR TRUMP last Election!

[-] [email protected] 2 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

they needed blacks, hispanics more. muslims made a small minority of her votes, only place where it would have appreachiable difference is michigan, where theres a large muslim population.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

It's not just Muslims. That's what many people don't get. Them openly supporting a genocide and ignoring international law loses them many voters than don't particually care for Palestinians, but care about human rights in general.

Heck Trump was able to dupe half of the population in believing he's anti-war candidate when his first term was one of the bloodiest in the recent US history. And that was only possible because of Democrats shouting how they will have the most lethal military in the world...

[-] [email protected] 24 points 19 hours ago

I have been shocked and disappointed to learn over the last few weeks that a colleague I am fond of personally has engaged in behavior towards muslims that is unacceptable. While Senator Gillibrand is entitled to have the Ethics Committee conclude its review, I believe it would be better for our country if she sent a clear message that any kind of mistreatment of muslims in our society isn’t acceptable by stepping aside to let someone else serve.
