My team is down 3: 1 permanent. I keep breaking my back to get things done, but my friend said let it all fail so they know it's unreasonable to have 3 less people and keep up same amount of output. Since I'm in charge I worry it'll backfire; I also worry that they know I'm not the type to let things fail which is why they overloaded me.
I find it funny that the people cheering on CECOT were absolutely terrified at the idea of us hosting migrants in our prisons. They hate the migrants but fear taking on the US’s unwanted will lead to backlash if a Dem gets into power.
Finished writing the song... gonna mix it and share it later today. It only took me about 6 days to finish this shit—for real!
Quite proud of it
I feel bad that I suddenly got a very strong craving for hot dogs on CracKKKer Independence Day because it kinda felt like I was "celebrating," but I said "Fuck it!"
I made these out of tofu
It seems like some form of networking might be my path out of this unemployment hole, then... but it's upsetting that I still wouldn't be terribly shocked if nothing comes from this. It's baffling how finding something as necessary for literal fucking survival as a job feels like hunting for a hidden treasure.
Finally got to a point where I was able to sing through a whole song using unclean vocals and didn't need to take a break.
Unfortunately, I didn't record it yet, but this is a huge accomplishment because I used to feel weak as shit doing this even after just a single verse. This time, it felt incredibly easy, relaxed, and natural yet the growls still sounded fierce as fuck.
I did this so casually. I was just doing some dishes, and then I just randomly started singing the lyrics to "Pull the Plug" by Death. I sang the whole way through with my unclean technique.
I've been trying to practice my uncleans a lot more often because I felt like I was giving the cleans more love as of late, but I'm gonna practice both whenever I can!
I'm thinking to write a bridge that leads into a guitar solo and then go from there with one more verse/pre-chorus/chorus section. After that, some sort of outro will close out the song, and that will conclude track 8 out of 9!
conclude track 8 out of 9!
Damn you're close to a full album. Gonna try to get a label to publish or just distribute for fun?
I actually intend to see if I can get a full band going at some point and publish this for real.
My main issue right now is that I need some more musical equipment but won't have the funds to get it until I get out of this unemployment shit. That's what I'm looking forward to the most.
Since I'm clearly quite a prolific writer, I'd love to get music out at a King Gizzard rate, really.
I have a 4-string bass and have been practicing on that for now, but the songs I write are for when I get a 7-string bass. I intend to get a used one to keep it fairly cheap, especially since most companies are not regularly producing such a niche kind of instrument. Thankfully, my bass playing and vocals are improving a lot, and I'm starting to get the hang of singing and playing simultaneously!
I'll do a brief drum solo after that (to revisit the theme of the intro), and then one more verse, pre-chorus, and chorus sequence, and then some outro of some sort.
Started the final track for the debut!
Sound different? Yeah, it's jazz!
This track is gonna be an outlier track that I'm titling "Role Reversal."
The premise of it is that the lead instrument, the solo you hear, is the 7-string bass, and that little walking "bassline" you hear underneath it? It's actually a clean 8-string guitar tone, so the extended-range bass and the extended-range guitar swapped roles.
It'll be a shorter track and totally instrumental. I don't intend to make this any longer than 3 minutes.
I decided to make the bridge a polyrhythmic breakdown kind of section.
The ambient guitar track in the background has a far more coherent rhythm, but the chugs on top are just... a bit all over the place, but it's in a way that works.
I'm in love with this. I think I did a good job. I could imagine it going well with some melodic, non-word vocals that harmonize well with the ambience (things like humming and whatnot).
Guitar solo is next!

Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?
-
Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.
-
This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.
-
Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.
-
No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.
-
Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.

I don't look XYZ and/or sometimes I can pass as white so I don't know if I can post here. Can I?

This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.
