Trump's con man skill (his only real skill) has tapped into the right-wing Christian need for a Daddy figure and managed to insert himself into that role. Their Daddy Knows Best instinct is so strong they'll defend him even while he's ass-raping their GI Joes and Barbies.

When Doug Ford threw hands, metaphorically, I was actually almost proud of him for at least not being the worst.
But why is there"marines on street"? Isn't there a ground troops available to deal with inland issue?
I don't want any troops dispatched here (the national guard is theoretically fine if a lot was different), but the marines are probably best of the branches. They're the advance troops with minimal additional stuff. The army is the big guns, when they arrive its no longer skirmish or mild occupation, its gonna be a while and its full on martial law.
You're right I shouldn't minimised other people trouble. I'll reformulate so it is better.
There shouldn't be soldiers oppressing the people who live here at all, it violates the Constitution. But for what it's worth the Marines are ground troops.

They were originally part of the Navy, an amphibious force to attack from the sea. Obviously the need for that has very much declined. They are now an independent branch of the military but are technically still in the Department of the Navy.
