In the military we had gun safety classes for those with personally owned firearms every time we got to a new duty station as part of the on-boarding process
Each one brought in a local cop to talk and inevitably in every talk they tell a story about their own negligent discharge of a firearm that nearly killed someone
I was in the military for almost 10 years, handled countless number of loaded weapons and I never once had a negligent discharge
Cops in general appear to have a problem with it though, maybe we should be the ones giving them the classes
