I hate the person that Trump has turned me into.
Don't get me wrong I hate the people that Trump has turned my parents into more, but my first thought was:

"His supporters will be disproportionately affected by this because the Bible belt is where most of the hurricanes hit. Good, The fewer of them the better".

A decade ago I would have been appalled by that level of apathy toward other people's suffering even if I didn't agree with them or their ideology.
But he continues to do increasingly horrible things as time passes and yet somehow his support never waivers. The fact that his support only seems to grow somehow despite his rhetoric of hate increasing makes me think of his supporters as less and less human everyday.
I hate that I've become that person, but here I am.
I genuinely don't give a shit if they all drink unpasteurized milk and inject bleach anymore.

I live in the deep south and I'm right there with you. Fortunately for me, my area has been spared this season but we've had multiple tornado outbreaks this year with lots of death and destruction. I just can't care at this point. Most of the people around me voted for a climate change denying asshat. The chiropractor next door to my company, sells unpasteurized milk. And has a life size tRump cut out in the front window.

just 6 months ago saying out loud that it is good that those who caused it are affected most would have gotten you banned even here. i am sure a bazillion accounts on reddit, facebook, lemmy etc are banned because of having a different feeling about what was acceptable 100 years ago. so now i ask what was the mindset behind your idea that those who cause a problem should NOT be affected proportionally? what was your reasoning? "they are people" is not reasoning.

everyone will have forgotten about this next week

Except those affected by hurricane season.

Help isn't coming so I hope it's a mild year, but hope is a terrible strategy.

Voting against your own interests is also a terrible strategy, but look at how all the states that tend to be affected the most by hurricanes voted.

I really do hope they have the day they voted for.

I live in Orleans Parish in Louisiana and Kamala Harris won 82% of the vote here, the same as Manhattan. Feel free to explore for yourself:

So, please, tell me more about what natural disasters people deserve for how “they” voted.
