This is just mandatory reputation management.
He hasn't learned a thing and it will happen again.
Because he can't control his red mist. Simple as that.

When you recall that Schumacher got disqualified from the championship for similar act, it’s hard to justify and ignore the action.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

That was a farcial disqualification to be honest. They disqualified him after the last race was over and he had lost the championship. Nothing changed because of that disqualification. Max should have been black flagged though.

It took the FIA a couple weeks too. Still hoping they do the right thing. This was disgraceful to the sport and we should have zero tolerance

[-] [email protected] 14 points 5 days ago

It was a disgusting and dangerous move that shouldn't happen at all in this level of sport.

At least his recognised that shouldn't have happened too, it's rare from Max.

Couldn't even say "sorry"

He's a petulant child. Every time I start thinking "maybe he's not a trash dude" he goes and proves me wrong

I don't care that he's the best driver out there. He sucks because of shit like this

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

He shouldnt even be driving in Canada imo this is like the third time he's used his formula one car as a weapon. The dude should be facing multiple race bans if not actual legal repercussions.

What is it gonna take to treat him like what he is? Will the fia let max kill another driver intentionally before punishing him?

If this happened at 150mph we wouldn't be joking around about max being unhinged we'd rightly be calling it attempted murder, is that the standard the FIA wants to set?

[-] [email protected] -1 points 4 days ago

He will do everything to win and nothing else. It this his whole purpose. I don't except "sorry" from him really. Him acknowledge something is as close as a sorry we will get. That what makes Max being Max. He is not the most likeable driver, but he is the most true to himself.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago

Most true to himself? What a bullshit copout

That's like when people say "if you can't love me at my worst you don't deserve me at my best"

Bullshit

EVERYONE ELSE can play by the rules, but he can't? He alone gets to be a menace to the sport and to driver safety, because "that's the way he is"?

Bullshit

He's a baby that never learned how to lose. Like I said earlier, I truly don't give a shit how good he is. In fact, that makes his actions even worse, as they're exceptionally unnecessary. He could be winning without resorting to terrible sportsmanship or trash attitudes of "I do what I want".

The sport deserves better, and he deserves either a race ban for the next race, or automatic disqualification from this year's championship.

Don’t worry, the “apology” in the passive voice is still very much Max.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago

C’mon Max, spell with us: “I am sorry and ashamed for my unsportsmanlike behavior. I beg pardon to Russell, my team, the whole Circus and all the fans for my short tempered actions.”

Is it so difficult? Instead, excuses and resentment. Such a small man in a big drivers body.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

By "you win some, you lose some" does he mean sometimes he gets away with his tantrums and dangerous driving and sometimes he doesn't?

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

And he complains like a little boy too. Stock down.

I got the whole "let him past by a nosecone, then challenge for the corner" as that's just standard Max.

I don't get the whole straightlining the corner when George was on his outside. It was all very Schumacher at Jerez in 97. I'm not Max's biggest fan and I do enjoy watching him race, but that should have been a bigger sanction than a ten second penalty.

Not to give it the whole "if I was the steward" spiel, but I would have given ten or eleven penalty points for that as a warning that another bit of shithousery would royally fuck his season.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago

They should have black flagged him and given out the penalty points. If Max wants to play bumper cars, he can go do that instead of F1.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

3 penaltypoints is quite significant I think

[-] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago

If literally anybody else did this we'd be talking about a lifetime ban lmao imagine Esteban ocon driving into someone he was told to let by out of frustration, he'd be done. Theres no room for this in the sport. idc if its the best driver in the world or not, its unacceptable and should receive an extraordinary punishment to ensure this behavior ends immediately. 3 race ban is significant, 3 penalty points is a calculated risk for max, clearly.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

No. Vettel got a 10 second stop-go and 3 penalty points for essentially the same thing. 3 penalty points is fair. You can disagree on the 10 second ban and I will agree that it should've been a a clear disqualification (assuming the rulebook allows something like that) or at the very least a 10 second stop-go. 3 race ban is just overkill and a lifetime ban would be completely idiotic.

True, like they banned two-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

I don't see how in any scenario a three tyre strategy was going to work after they used so many softs in practice.

Max is the perfect heel. Sure he’s fucked in the head, but without him people outside racing fandom would not be talking about F1 as much as they do now. Like in 20 years from now we will be talking about moments like this and not how McLaren won the WDC and WCC. Like the only thing I remember from the 2017 season, outside Hamilton’s fourth WDC is the moment Vettel lost his mind and bumped tires with Hamilton.
