That's oddly endearing, and SOOOOOOO much better than what a lot of people are subjected to.

Dare I call it, wholesome, even. Not ideal, but homie is trying there.

Yea I was like "that's adorable"

[-] [email protected] 62 points 2 years ago

Don't even think he's confused, that's a quintessential man gift there

[-] [email protected] 40 points 2 years ago

I am legitimately confused on how thats not a great gift.

[-] [email protected] 16 points 2 years ago

Because being a guy doesn't necessarily mean you want something this horrendously tacky

[-] [email protected] 37 points 2 years ago

Perhaps Mountain Dew race car hat is the moms boyfriends way that he sees masculinity and hes trying to share that with her trans kid. Thats really sweet to me.

Its a funny hat too maybe its okay to wear the funny hat

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Wellll, I'm not sure about that. I would say that's actually one of the core tenants.

[-] [email protected] 61 points 2 years ago

Dudes, and this wont be reported on most mainstream media outlets, rock

[-] [email protected] 35 points 2 years ago

This is true, many are saying it these days

[-] [email protected] 54 points 2 years ago

Catch me in that hat with my I paused my game to be here shirt and cargo shorts at the anime convention to get a heroic dose of gender euphoria

[-] [email protected] 50 points 2 years ago

If i was transitioning to male this gift would crush so hard

[-] [email protected] 47 points 2 years ago

ok but that hat fucking rocks

[-] [email protected] 47 points 2 years ago

Who among us has not been in the checkout line of a Kwik-Stop and felt a sudden sense of pride and appreciation for our girlfriend's trans son

[-] [email protected] 45 points 2 years ago

This is really fucking cute. I like this, it's comical in a nice kind of way.

[-] [email protected] 39 points 2 years ago

I'd wear it, dudes have to rock after all

[-] [email protected] 37 points 2 years ago

I gotta say, I don't have much insight into the trans experience at all but this tacky gift really does seem sweet. The intention of the gift is more important than the gift itself

I can absolutely see myself buying a gift like that for a trans guy, not because I think it's a good gift, but because it's such a comically stereotypical Man Hat, and it kinda rocks with how over-the-top tacky it is. It works as both a genuine affirmation and a funny gag gift.

[-] [email protected] 20 points 2 years ago

Even if it isnt the dude is trying to relate which is based

It's the thought that counts. Trans people barely even understand gender, mum's boyfriend is trying and that's what matters.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Trans people barely even understand gender

I'm curious if you meant to say non-trans. I'm not saying I disagree, this just isn't a take I see a lot as it currently is written.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 2 years ago

I meant it more like "Trans people barely even understand gender (even though they think about it more than most people), how is mum's boyfriend supposed to understand it"

[-] [email protected] 29 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Honestly that's awesome. I don't even drink mountain dew or watch NASCAR, but I'd still wear it in that situation.

[-] [email protected] 27 points 2 years ago

Dudes ROCK

HELL YEAH BROTHER

[-] [email protected] 24 points 2 years ago

I would actually cry. From happiness though!

[-] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago

Doing the best he can with the tools he's got

[-] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago

dudes rock exhibit #237

[-] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago

That hat is both ironically and unironically fire

[-] [email protected] 18 points 2 years ago

Man deserves an order-of-lenin

[-] [email protected] 9 points 2 years ago

The sheer clumsy earnestness and sincerity gets my critical support. And I hate product placement clothing and NASCAR shit. sicko-wholesome
