Evangelicals just being white supremacists with a couple of bible verses sprinkled in, color me shocked.

It's the first I'm hearing about right wing hogs being secular evangelicalists.

lathe-of-heaven secular cryptocurrency-based prosperity gospel

ohnoes oh shit! i'm sorry! that was an accident!

Sometime in 2022, Pastor “Eli” Regalado told his congregation at Victorious Grace Church that God told him and his wife to create a cryptocurrency called INDXcoin and sell it to their church. More than 300 people bought in for a total of around $3.2 million according to the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.

To be fair, most of the “heresies” in that article are either ambiguous semantics or evangelicals claiming beliefs that reject the more antisocial aspects of the Christian tradition like humans being inherently evil and other religions being invalid.

True - but even if the Pelagian heresy is preferable to orthodoxy, 43% of American evangelicals disbelieving in the divinity of Jesus is pretty bonkers.

White protestants are figuring out “culturally religious”

[-] [email protected] 30 points 1 week ago

this is definitely a thing, when I started at my last job my boss was a bit of a reddit atheist libertarian. over the years he leaned more into the conservative culture war slop, and by the time I left he was casually mentioning going to church. i never asked why he started, but I think it has more to do with hating wokeness or whatever than a sincere change of heart or faith.

Ah you see, when I said I was evangelical I was really just using shorthand to say: I hate women and gays and any concept that is more complex than you can expect a 7 year old to understand. What has religion got to do with it?

[-] [email protected] 25 points 1 week ago

Vulgar materialism and gramsci-heh don't explain litetally everything regarding some people's brain worms, but they get remarkably close.

[-] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago

Evangelism is just religion you’re instructed to not shut the fuck up about. (Exactly counter to the Bible - as if they’d care)

There are good Christians in the world. I've made many experiences with people active within local church communities, when I was an exchange student in New Zealand my host family prayed before every meal.

But what all good Christians have in common is that they Do Not Post.
