Forget avocadoes. I've just learned you can ripen mangoes by leaving them by the window in the sunlight for a few days.
You know those green sour crunchy kind they sell at the corner store? They ripen to a beautiful lush aromatic softness.

Protip: you can evenly ripen avocados and most fruits in a brown paper bag. I like to throw in a nice ripe banana to jump-start the process (gives off ethylene.)
I have never heard of this before and it sounds like bullshit, but I looked it up and it’s actually true. I’ll need to try this asap.

Mannequin on the moon I think
Thanks!
No joke, I was really concerned about this after a weekend long trip. I cut open the avocado and it was deceptively hard inside :(
The worst is when they are mushy but still have those little fibers in them.
10% of this avocado is ripe.
The rest is basically green concrete.
The 10% that is ripe now will go rotten by the time the other 90% contemplates ripening.
I feel bad for you. I have a couple avocado trees and we let the avocados stay on the tree until they are ripe. You can’t buy this variety at most stores because they’d get smushed in travel. The avocado is buttery and you can cut the skin with your fingernail. We end up giving them away to visitors because we have so many!
A few more years of global warming and I'll grow avocados too, sounds great
