Why even have referendums if they aren’t going to do what they were voted on?
To give the illusion that the system can be changed from within
To direct people's energy away from effective resistance
To disenfranchise and demotivate people
To wait out the masses, who are easily distracted
So 32 Republicans and 1 Democrat fucked people over, and the story is the ONE…not the THIRTY-TWO.
Trash story.
The rest of the democrats watched as one of their own sacrificed themselves for the good of the herd. It's a good strategy to keep people like you thinking it's only the "bad apples" that ruin the party. The party can eject people who do not hold the party line, though, and they never do. There is always a rotating heel in the ranks, who defects at the final hour, so the rest of the party can shake their fists at them. When the lights go out, and they're all in the locker room, though, the party is glad they didn't need to show their full hand.
Popular public support for a given policy has no impact on its implementation. When changes are made through a truly democratic process, outside party lines, and not reliant on the party, the parties come together to dismantle it.
everyone understands republicans are fucking trash who belong in the incinerator.
some people, like yourself, somehow don't understand that the democratic party also belongs in that incinerator
Right now we have to pick one of the two. It’s just that simple.
Some people, like yourself, don’t seem to get that when you only have two choices you have to pick the one that’s less bad.
guy fawkes didn't for a lesser evil you absolute buffoon.
Fun fact: I’m not the real Guy Fawkes you absolute buffoon. There are some differences between us.
lol yeah you're the shittier one.
republicans are worth less than nothing, it's not news when they're shit and evil
you're supposed to be the good guys, when you're shit and evil you go in the papers
Which then only reinforces to the MAGAts that “Dems bad”, as opposed to “Dems bad BUT Repubs FAR worse.”
It doesn't matter what maga types think.
The only thing that'll change their minds is lead.
yeah, you've got a point. We should probably be praising this dem for being the adult in the room and compromising with their "opposition" to reach further to the right overriding a voter referendum instead of supporting actual democratic action. Then the MAGA voters would finally see the error of their ways!
Yes, this is probably what the person with the Guy Fawkes mask Amerikkkan flag waving profile picture person actually believes! 🤡
In case you’re reading this:
It is probably not what that would say they support but it is what their defense/deflection does support
Nope, but we sure as hell shouldn’t neglect calling out the MAJORITY that passed this.
Well yeah, because liberals are always saying Democrats are the Good Guys™, so them siding with Republicans should be pointed out, even if it's not news to anyone here.
She's shit. Are you still going to defend her anyway?
Backers of the bill overcame a filibuster on Wednesday with the exact number of votes needed — 33 — thanks to the support of a Democrat in the officially nonpartisan Legislature, Sen. Jane Raybould of Lincoln.
Raybould, whose family owns several grocery store chains in the state, was also the main sponsor of another bill that sought to restrict a voter-backed minimum wage law. That bill suffered an unexpected defeat earlier this session when a freshman lawmaker failed to show up for a vote on it. Raybould’s attempt to attach it to the paid sick leave measure on Wednesday also failed.
By a nearly 3-to-1 ratio, Nebraska voters in November approved a ballot measure that requires all Nebraska employers to provide at least some paid sick leave to their employees.
Not defending her, but these are the types of headlines that the low information Republican votes point to and say “see, Dems are bad, could never support one of THEM”!
This BS “both sides” shit needs to be called out EACH AND EVERY TIME with how factually inaccurate it is.
lmao, for "not defending her", you really are going all in on defending her and parroting the toxic loyal opposition rhetoric that keeps the Dems from ever have any reason to reform.
the longer people like you carry water unconditionally for The Party, the longer the conservatives will continue to enact their project without real opposition.
if you actually gave a fuck about the party as a representative organ of democracy, you would be calling for her removal louder than anyone.
but it sounds more you're doing damage control like a party flack. hope you're getting paid to sell out the base.
