At this rate I will never be able to retire. Imagine working until 70 only to then start relaxing a bit if you aren't dead or terminally ill at that point.

germany is already at 67, think 3 years dont really make a difference :( the french go protesting on every attempt to raise it but we dont do anything at all who even wants this change? people are so brainwashed when they argue that it is for the better of society, for the greater good

Same here. People keep screaming we need to do it because of our budget deficit but it's literally just a matter of getting the money from elsewhere but the working class. Guess it's up to us to spread the word then.

Liberal Corporatism / Ordoliberalism in action

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Ordoliberalism sounds like a society modeled after Ordos, China, which would kick-ass.

Or a everyone gets free Oreos.

It's a city in the desert, and it's pretty cool.

My retirement plan is just to die from climate change or from PFAS buildup in the environment, that literally no one on Earth can escape because it's in the god damn rain. It helps not having to worry about retirement age when you assume you won't get close to it anyway.

No. Defeatism is not the answer. Never lose the hope and courage for making the world a better place.

I think that socialist countries, namely China, will lead the charge in fighting against PFAS buildup.

And while this isn't a substitute for complete removal, eating a cup of blackberries or 2 cups of blueberries every day will remove microplastics from your blood, or at least your brain.

Couple things.

  1. As much as I support China and trust them to be the new leaders of environmental protections, unless something is done drastically to start actively filtering out these chemicals and stop putting more into the environment, I truly believe we are doomed. Insect life across the globe has plummeted. I look into my garden and the lack of insects is startling. Add the fact the US EPA regs are getting gutted, any positive movement on China's part in controlling them is about to be countered by the US increasing its pollution.

  2. Micro plastics are not the same as PFAS I believe? PFAS are quite a bit worse as I understand?

  3. Got.... Got a source on the blackberry/, blueberry thing? Cause that sounds dope.

  4. As far as regular (non-PFAS) micro plastics are concerned, you can also rinse foods with small amounts of citrus oils to remove microplastics. Citrus "essential oils" (EOs) are like 98% d-limonene. Which is an extremely effective and volatile organic solvent. One of the best naturally occuring ones on earth. Put a drop of orange oil on a Styrofoam cup sometime and see what happens. The EOs of citrus fruit in a little water will dissolve the normally hydrophobic microplastics on vegetables (usually in the form of pesticides and herbicides. All that shit is basically different forms of plastic). Added note, this is why most cleaners and degreasers are citrus scented. It's not just for scent. It's literally part of the cleaner. It's amazing stuff. I could go on but I'll stop here. Unless anyone wants more random facts about it. lol
