Am now unemployed and as of tomorrow have to claim unemployment. Easy bag, thankfully, as the job I had pretty much completely shut down and is currently being stripped of everything. I had a feeling it was coming with bulletins straight up being like "yeah we made almost no money this week".

Thankfully they didn't give me any grief and just handed me the pink slip. Not looking forward to eventually having to find a job but I am going to milk unemployment for as long as I can because that's what we do as a dirty commie.

What's gonna enrage me is having 10+ years of experience in maintenance, aptitude with multiple tools and fields of work such as HVAC, plumbing, low-voltage certifications and more is gonna get shit on by some dumpy-ass HR-hire that did a year in some TikTok business administration school that then tries to offer me minimum wage to which then I can literally tell them to go fuck themselves.

Literally all it took was reinforcing in their head they are not independent of material conditions. they kept thinking just because they think of a piece of their personality outside of their relaton to production that gommmunism doesn't apply.

I fucking hate the trolley problem.

The more I think about it, the more obvious it's flaws become and the more I hate the using it as a metaphor for real life problems.

The peoples who like to pose the trolley problem always complain about "trolls" proposing "loopholes" to opt out of the 2 options explicitly offered by setting. But guess what? The "trolls" are objectively correct!!

Since the problem is about minimizing the number of deaths, then blocking the rails with a tree, a car or whatever to force the trolley to stop, or contacting the conductor of the trolley or someone else with control over the trolley to make it stop, or any other such "loophole" is better than either default solutions since it results in 0 deaths instead of 1 or 5.

And whether the trolley problem folks like it or not, the fact is that there is nothing in the setting to explain why we wouldn't be able to do one of these "loopholes". The only way the trolley problem folks can force us back to the dilemma is to either arbitrarily forbid any loophole or come up with an ad-hoc explanation for each loophole to explain why we wouldn't be able to do it. But both of these ways are exactly what's wrong with the trolley problem and how it's used in arguments.

The first way is literally "you aren't allowed options that don't help my point because I said so". Do I even need to say what the problem is here?

The second way is adding more and more ad-hoc elements to the setting to force the 2 options, making the trolley problem even more oddly specific, ad-hoc and removed from reality than it already is with the basic setting, making it even less applicable to real life than it was.

I especially hate how some peoples try to use it as an argument to impose a false dilemma. The liberal tantrum about peoples who refused to obey blue MAGA's order of voting blue no matter who had no shortage of smug libs trying to impose us the false dilemma of "it's either Biden or Trump, no third option exist" on us.

The Netherlands' leading marxist YouTuber made a weird video about a political murder 20 years ago in which he suddenly felt the urge to ask the murderer, who is free now, about the why. And he did so by ambushing him in his hometown.

I don't get it. Like, the reason the YT says is because he wants to get the story about the man who, according to him, is responsible for a bad rep of the left because of the murder. But the left will always get a bad rep regardless. I don't see what newsworthy things this story will bring. Very cheap content.

Why do people comply with England's honors system and always call knighted people 'Sir'? I see it all the time with popular figures (e.g. Attenborough, Ferguson) on social media comments and I'm not from the UK.

You can also notice this in wikipedia. The page for a knighted person will always start with "Sir X is/was a ..." even in languages other than English. The only exception I found to this was French wikipedia. I hope their journalists and general public do not comply with this idiotic nonsense as well.

There's this right wing Dutch subreddit that is circlejerking itself so hard that it is unironically becoming more left by the day. It's fascinating to see. Like they are hating in minorities so hard sometimes that for some reason they sway away from the hate somehow. Like, it's as if it is too much hate and it needs to balance itself out sometimes.

I have found myself to be a campaigner for unemployed people lately because the government reforms will strip them (and us) from their rights of benefits after a certain amount of time.

I can tell you that it might be easier campaigning for 100% vegan communisme than it is to say that these people deserve to exist too lol. Might as well consider them non human if you believe the mainstream opinion.

But you don't need to be an overly sympath to see that stripping thousands of people of their only safety net income will be a disaster.

Met with friends lately, and I was actually able to convince one of my friends of some of my opinions. He's an apolitical but actually right wing worker. We were talking about the trade war and I said we should more trade with countries others than the USA. He agreed. When I asked if he's in favour of better relations with China, he was unsure. I then said that China will try to leave you alone while the US forces you into agreements that mostly benefit them. He saw my point and agreed.

I asked him a while later if he thinks that socialism is better than capitalism, and after a little thinking he agreed.

At the end of the meetup colonial reparations were brought up, don't remember why. He said that colonial reparations are useless since former colonies are independent now amd should develop themselves. I talked to him about neocolonialism and used Indonesia as an example of western countries and companies still controlling their former colonies and stealing the wealth. He was unsure of that. I then talked about how some countries try to stop the neocolonialism and try to develop their own country first to make the lives of their citizens better. I used Burkina Faso and their mines as an example.

A little while later, he came to me and said, actually I think you're right.

I also remember a couple months ago when we were talking about Ukraine and he thought that Putin started the war and that he did so because he was afraid of losing support. I told him that I think it was because of geopolitics and that Russia felt threatened by increased military presence at its border. He thought I made a good point and that he hadn't thought about that.

I think he's the friend that is the most willing to become a socialist. An other friend of mine is apolitical and never wants to talk about politics even if the conversation is about it. He was completely quiet during my discussion with this friend. And another friend is a right winger with racist views. He did listen but didn't seem to be convinced by my arguments. I also really want to call him out for his racist views but didn't dare to do it.
