I wonder what happened to that kid. Dunno if there's ever any mention of him later, but would've been cool if he made a random appearance after Judgmemt Day.

But also, have him in college for fashion design or something, since John disappeared, he hadn't had a bad influence around. J-Day happens and his dreams of dominating the Paris Fashion Show are dashed. Now, with his analogue sewing machine, he must focus on helping The Resistance look snappy when running into battle

Nope. In this scene the Terminator (cop) has a picture of young John Connor, the kids friend, and is showing it around. The kid obviously knows its his friend, but lies to the cop because him and John are "troubled kids" (orphan in Johns case) and are usually up to some less than legal activities. The literal next shot in the movie is that kid going to warn John that a cop is in the arcade looking for him and rushing him out the back door.
