Dr Doom here is actually a version of Reed Richards who was tortured by a dude called the Maker into becoming doom while also taking over earth

He and Tony stark's dad (he dies) locked the maker into a time prison for some time but he will eventually escape, so then Doom and Tony make a team (the ultimates) to overthrow the world goverment the maker made and prepare for his eventual return

Spider-man and X-men are probably the best in the way that they are pretty standalone and the intro text tells you all you new about the ultimate universe (a supervillain took over the world and made sure heroes didnt happened)

In Ult. Spider-man, He is a dad and becomes spider-man on his 30s. In Ult. X-men they are teens in japan, both are pretty good in my opinion.

Ultimate X-men is green light to like issue 24 so we are still good for a year

The Ultimate comics line from marvel has been pretty solid and Ultimates its really good, i especially like issue 3, 5 and 9
