Yeah Dems being down I buy, but the idea that Republicans are trending up doesn’t pass the sniff test.

It's not a trend, but rather % disapprove subtracted from % approve.

https://harvardharrispoll.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/HHP_May2025_KeyResults.pdf

Looking at the full results, GOP is +52%/-48% (so net +4%) while the Dems are +42%/-58% (-16%).

Also, what the fuck, Facebook has a +24% net approval rating? Who are these people?

That Facebook number is enough for me to check the whole thing out.

It's clearly overrepresenting really ducking stupid boomers if Facebook is +24 in approval.

Also republicans whole political philosophy is minority rule. Their entire road to power relies on not needing more than 50% approval.

Many people use Facebook to keep in touch with friends and family instead of the wild political nonsense. It's not unreasonable to assume that leads to positive feelings about the website. You could say it's almost a form of emotional manipulation or blackmail.

I'd argue representation is accurate given the results of the 2024 elections. Republicans won the popular vote for the first time in two decades. Trump is more popular than he's ever been. The "#resistance" we've seen so far has been a drop in the bucket compared to 2017. There are plenty of older people out there, and young MAGA folks that would never vote Republican if it wasn't for Trump. This is where the USA is right now..

You say that in your last paragraph, yet Republicans have +20% more approval than Democrats, and most Republican key figures have better approval ratings than those in the Democratic party. On every key issue except abortion, the Republican platform is more popular than the Democratic platform, and this has been the case for 8-9 months now. If anyone needs minority rule right now in the ~~two party~~ uniparty facade system, it's the Democrats. This is not 2012 or even 2016, the situation has changed. The Democratic party is even losing tonnes of ground amongst what were key minority demographics, in Latino/Hispanic people and black men.

Very interesting data, not much has changed since the same poll at the start of Trump's term.
