That's literally the job of the president! It's in the fucking oath! It's like asking if doctors are obligated to heal the sick and injured! Ah fuck, MAGA probably thinks that's up for debate too!

Depends, does the sick and injured have money? If not, republicans think they deserve to die.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 8:

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:– I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

His ability is what's missing.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 17 hours ago

.. and let’s impeach him now.

that just means he needs to keep the physical piece of paper safe under glass, right? /s

By the time his reign is over, I half expect he'll publicly set fire to the constitution and people will cheer

[–] [email protected] 3 points 16 hours ago

That’s why he wanted it moved to his office! He couldn’t let Nicholas Cage steal it!!

Didn’t trump legally argue during his first term that he doesn’t have to “uphold” the constitution because the specific word “uphold” was not in the oath?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 17 hours ago

I believe last time this same fucking topic came around, the word under contention was "defend". Does the word uphold mean he has to defend the constitution?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 19 hours ago

But literally none of those verbs are "uphold"!

The oath of office of the president of the United States is the oath or affirmation that the president of the United States takes upon assuming office. The wording of the oath is specified in Article II, Section One, Clause 8, of the United States Constitution, and a new president is required to take it before exercising or carrying out any official powers or duties.

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:— "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Servicemembers must feel so proud to be serving with him as their boss...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 18 hours ago

once he’s deposed does the Sergeant Schultz defense take precedence over the Twinkies defense?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 19 hours ago

Can't do a bad job if you don't even know what the job is! /s

[–] [email protected] 30 points 20 hours ago

Literally his main job.
