I do like the painterliness at this scale. Photographing it outdoors was a good choice to show the texture of the paint. There is a thin shadow across it. I’d love to see it under interior lighting. I’d encourage you to use your palette knife or course broad brushes to really push that texture! (Might wanna do a study or two first)
I think my favorite moment is the marbling effect of the background. I can tell you liked experimenting mixing directly on the canvas. I’d suggest reading/watching some videos of following “fat over lean” when using oils. Oils are funny. Each color has its own chemistry and personality.
The snail person and sea work very well with the under painting. I appreciate the rendering of the waves. I’m going to push you to add feet to the snail person. I know it’s hard! Feet are the devil! But you can do it!
