It's not that I don't want kids, it's more that they have created a world so fucked that I can barely even exist in it myself.

Exactly. You have to have a very comfortable life if the idea of having a kid doesn't scare the shit out of you... that or you're the type of person that doesn't give a shit about your kids.

If I hate the capitalism rat race I'm stuck in with all the uncertainties and the never ending grind and the deteriorating planet, why would I be motivated to bring kids into this world, knowing full well that I don't have the fuck you money needed such that they wouldn't have to go through the same rat race grind as me. Seems cruel.
Never want kids = realizing I'll never be able to afford them
Well yeah but there's more too. The climate is a factor in people's choices as well.

no shit. Everying is too expensive. Between housing and education, you have lifelong debt. Who the fuck wants that for their children?
Not to mention the knowledge of bringing kids into a world where we know the future is only going to get worse.
I feel so guilty towards my 10 year old. I never planned to have kids. I never wanted to have kids. But it happened anyways and I love him more than anything, and its so depressing knowing for a fact that he doesn't have nearly the same outlook on his future. I cut off my MAGAt mother and now me and my kid are solid, but I know the future has shit foundations and a mild win only lasts so long, but it feels so good to cut toxicity out of your life. Shame that it's mostly meaningless these days.

When I was younger I always figured I would be ready for kids some day. At the current rate of progress, that some day will be when I'm about 170, which is still a few decades before I'll be able to retire.

crazy, house prices also doubled/quadrupled during that time. i wonder if theres a connection?
something places asia seems to ignore, but they insist of encouraging sex but nothing to accomadate the mother and child once they are born. they just want them to be born, thats about it.
housing is the biggest reason, certain job prospects in many degreed fields are pretty dismal as it is, cost of raising a child is also huge too and daycare.
Pretty sure this is global.
And even if you do want kids, there are requirements that have to be met.
Stable income, high enough income, a home thats big enough... People can't have kids if half their income instantly disappears into the wallet of their landlord every month and get reamed with the other half at places like grocery stores.
in the usa Insurance for health.
I think voting in a strongman leader who restores traditional family values like poverty, political violence and death camps will totally reverse this trend.

We could probably do with some slow to the exponential population growth. The problem (as foretold by Mike Judge) is that doubling population of non-kid havers are the ones that are thoughtfully considering their futures. Meaning the pool of intelligent, responsible people that are having kids is getting smaller.
