If you haven't noticed in recent times, liberals have been accusing the Trump administration and basically anybody who criticizes Biden/Kamala/liberalism of being a Russian agent or puppet! (Or sometimes a Chinese or Iranian puppet, but Russia is the most common)

It can't be the fault of the United States themselves! It can't be that liberal capitalism would eventually degenerate into fascism! It can't be that people are genuinely furious at the government independent of foreign powers!

It's all the Russians!

It's especially infuriating when they accuse leftists (particularly pro-Palestinian activists) of being "just funded by the Russians!" It's like liberals refuse to take responsibility for their own ideology's atrocities and think that their precious liberalism can never be wrong and all the haters are just fake.

Are the Russian bots in the room with us right now?

“You’re parroting Russian propaganda talking points,” is a convenient way to dismiss inconvenient truths. If you say something that Russia also happens to say, then it must have come from Russian state disinformation, and therefore must be false, and everything you say may be ignored. If Russia says the sky is blue, then it’s anything but blue.

I've heard succdems in my country say this unironically

Russian state disinformation is also, seemingly, the most powerful influence on Earth. Seriously, it can get into anything and affect everyone. US-based free media press are under Russian influence depending on who you ask. The president himself? A cold war sleeper agent. It's all Russia!

These are the same groups of people who, generally, can't comprehend how Trump won, and how many trumpists spout earnest disinformation like their lives depended on it. So much disinformation is present, Trump won the presidency!

But no, it's Russian disinformation that's causing all the problems. America just has, um, cooky rednecks.

I think it's just because they're willfully ignorant of the impact that their support enables. generations of privilege makes them expect the media to keep them informed and when the media inevitablly does so selectively, centuries of American exceptionalism teaches them to believe that anyone refuting liberal benevolence must be a Russian/Chinese/Republican bot/shill/tankie/troll/useful-idiot.

Liberals are never interested in what people have to say. Anytime we point out their crimes against humanity, they say we're "funded by Russia". Anytime we explain why their talking points are just outright wrong, we're "funded by Russia". Anyone that doesn't conform to their propaganda is a "Russian puppet". Everything that challenges them is "funded by Russia". (Or China or Iran as OP said)

I think they've always refused to take responsibility for their failures, crimes against humanity, and genocides. We saw them use this tactic in the U.S. election last year, that only made them more unpopular and more arrogant. My liberal father would dismiss reasons to not participate in the election as "Russian/Chinese/Iranian propaganda". I had this discussion with him twice and he claimed I was repeating Russian propaganda. I told him the outcome of the election didn't matter and there was no reason to vote in the election.

I've avoided talking to my family about politics and anytime they do I just leave the room because there's no reason to. Anytime they try to talk to me about US Bourgeois politics I just walk away. It's tiring talking to these people.

They will blame Russia as they are blindfolded and facing a wall in the Salvadorian death camp where they were sent by their own countries police.

I've noticed that ever since I started learning Russian people seem to trust me less when I talk about politics. As if knowing the language makes me inherently compromised as a source of information/analysis.

I actually worry about this as well, to the point I’ve hidden my Russian language books just in case.
