AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

Nudity: Nudity is and has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude subject matter.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.

I made a community thumbnail for [email protected] a few days ago. I thought It would be a fun and creative project to make it animated.

Wow was it a lot of work! I didn't know anything about gif animations so I looked up a quick tutorial. I made two frames alternating and worked from there. The result is rough in places but im proud of it anyway. It took way more animations than I expected to get things smooth. I learned early on small changes between many frames make for a more smooth viewing experience. Also too many new lines at once looks jaring so it needs to be subtle movement in and out

I did a bunch of animations when in art school decades ago, hand drawn, 3d, clay, mixed media, digital. I even did 6 30 second ones for TV. It's an insane amount of work. 24 frames per second, so that's 720 frames for the ones I produced for TV. I liked the moment of fame, but I didn't make a career out of it :)

This is a great effort OP, and brought me back to those days.

Congrats on the first animation! Making even one helps give a better sense of how much effort animations take to make. It's always cool once you get it to a spot you're happy with and see it moving.
