What makes a good karaoke song is based on your audience. It should be something you think many of the people in the room would know, and could maybe sing along to. It doesn't have to be a song they consciously like, just know. Most of the time not too slow. You see too many people getting up and doing something that's technically impressive but not enjoyable for the audience, like a deep cut from a musical.

Yeah, we had a guy who did "just Ken" by Ryan Gosling from Barbie. It was not the best song for the moment.
4'33 by John Cage.
If you have 4-5 guys: "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys
If you have 3-4 guys: "Greased Lightning" from the musical Grease
If you only have 2 guys: "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler
If you are singing alone and want to rock: "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams
If you are signing alone and want to make sure nobody looks at you the same ever again: "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha Ha...!" by Napoleon XIII
I've only ever heard "They're coming to take me away" on record. Great pick!
In my experience, most karaoke companies have it in their database. If you can do crazy eyes and a decent falsetto, it'll be unforgettable.
The Champs - Tequila
For extra goofs, get the timing wrong.
I love the internet sometimes.
Literally anything you like!
I personally have a strong leaning towards rock music groups from the 90s to 00s ish. Such as "Linkin Park" and "Papa Roach". I also like newer bands such as "Starset" and "Project Vela". I just can't do the screaming parts haha.
Random side note: And... if I could stop being lazy maybe I'll make more karaoke videos on YouTube haha. (I try to make ones for my favorite songs that don't have karaoke videos for it yet.)
Wonderwall
Probably Don't Stop Believing, Home For A Rest, or Baby Got Back.
Honourable mention to Firestarter and Sandstorm
Queen's Don't Stop Me Now
Napalm Death - You suffer.
I personally think it drags on a bit too long for karaoke.
My personal favorite to sing with my now husband is "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" version by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
Sweet Caroline. It's impossible for the audience to resist shouting "BOP BOP BAAAAA" during that song.
Also, I think I've only heard that song during karaoke. I never hear it anywhere else...
Baka Mitai
What do you say ? Karaoke exists outside of the Like a Dragon series ?
Besides what’s already been listed,
- Chasin That Neon Rainbow
- Sold
- Fishin In The Dark
- Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy
- Margaritaville
- Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl)
- Take It Easy
- Boot Scootin Boogey
- Sweet Home Alabama
Around the world - Daft Punk
Baka Mitai, obviously...
Bohemian Rhapsody or Paradise by the Dashboard Light
Not sure about the best overall but one of my favorite karaoke memories is a metalhead friend of mine performing Weird Al - White & Nerdy.
Judgement -Shinpan-
I'm more of a 24-hour Cinderella guy ✌️
The Hook by Blues Traveler.
Don't stumble over the final verse!
Rollin by Limp Bizkit
Ocean’s Avenue is mine!! It’s so goddang catchy and easy to sing! It’s part of my soundtrack to high school<3
But my REAL answer is Take Me Home, Country Roads. Everyone sings that one :)
Take on me!
It seems everyone in my circle really like Uptown Girl by Westlife, it's like mandatory song.
If you're not a good singer: Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind. It's fast enough that you should know the words without reading them, but it's pretty much talk-singing and doesn't require much vocal range. For the doo-doo-doo part, it's pretty high but everyone will sing along with it.
Also Say it Ain't So by Weezer will get the whole bar clapping and stomping and signing along.
If you know the actual lyrics then Baby Got Back by Sir Mixalot
With karaoke you usually see the lyrics on a screen, but good song nonetheless
There's reading the lyrics and knowing the lyrics with all the intonations and timing. This is especially true with rap lyrics where if you're just reading it, it just sounds bad.
Yeah everyone thinks they know a hip hop song until they get to the verses
A friend and I once tried to do Sure Shot by the Beastie Boys. 2 people, neither of whom are a rapper, attempting to overlap on a fast-paced song written for 3 was an interesting approach...
Thong Song
Low by Flo Rida for the group
Grace Kelly by MIKA for your solo
