OP I don't want to take your crutches away but do your best to limit intake and find alternative outlets because the damage you're doing to your body can never be undone.

Last time I've told a joke to my therapist I've ended up 3y in a court room so I don't recommend jokes either

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Ha, I told a joke in middle school and they had to call the police, so I feel ya. It was 25 years ago.

Careful about rewarding yourself for getting upset.

Same when everything goes alright.

When things go right, when things went wrong, or when nothing interesting happened

I drank to celebrate, to commiserate, and to disassociate.

I call it 🌈alcoholism🌈 Therapy would be a cheaper choice.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It may not be quite alcoholism, but it's definitely a drinking problem. I've been there, had to pull myself back, take a break from the booze and reestablish a healthy relationship with it.

Remember, if you're still drinking when you aren't having fun it's time fo stop for some time. And if you can't find that balance it's better to put it away for good.

But noticing and changing it early can be the difference between a long and drawn out battle with addiction and a significantly less difficult readjustment

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes I just wanted to add a meme to the meme. but if you wanted a psych anal: I think that someone who looks for inconvenience to drink, is probably frequently inconvenienced. They are already maladapted to negative stimulation, and instead of confronting that problem in a healthy manner, they are tricking themselves into thinking is therapy.

This isn't a fun problem drinking meme, this is just a cry for help. There's certainly a time and place for drinking, I usually think celebrating and spending time with loved ones. If you're drinking because something upset you, you are creating a habit that even non-alchoholics will have a hard time kicking. It invites more misery into your life quickly. Medicine and a poison. Intentions matter. If you liked this meme and thought it was funny, it's not, and its never to early or to late to quit and seek help.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, and as someone who's been there and can enjoy alcohol responsibly now, if quitting seems like a huge commitment, take a month off. It'll still be there when the month is over, but if you're still craving it after the month maybe take some more time away.

Mmm those physical withdrawl symptoms are something once you've been at it for some years.

Also it makes you fat! You may not notice now but you will! Took me 2 years to sweat all the gin out. I still drink on occasion as well. I know all to well the cycle of drinking making work suck, work making you want to drink, wash and repeat. The end result is fat, sad, and physical addiction that makes your hands shake.
