If you poison the air, water and soil, GDP actually goes up because we're trapped inside a captain planet villain

Which is why we should either have a political class that rules for life or actually pay them more and give them a pension for life, but stop them from ever having a job afterwards ever again

I would honestly trust assigning leadership to a random set of people every year, rather than even have "political class". It would probably reflect popular will more than our elections.
