Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

90 days is a long time for the global grifter network, hopefully global south political systems can enjoy a breather from constant state department undermining

god it would be so funny if it all just collapsed

I kinda feel it would be funnier if we weren’t under it when it collapsed.

It's gotta come down for humanity to survive. Might as well laugh it off.

No actually it's still pretty funny.

The security state will get trump to back down on it, this seems to be part of a massive show of force within the government in order to make its apparatus get with the program.

Emotive language in this article really diminishes any credibility it’s supposed to have. Feels like I’m reading a maga PR

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 day ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

Emotive language only strips away the illusion of unbiasedness, it does not actually increase bias.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I didn't notice any particular emotive language used by the author, also why would that be a bad thing in the first place? The heart of journalism is persuasive prose

All the "emotion" is coming from the author quoting panicking USAID apparatchiks and right wing US allies

weird seeing grayzone here of all places

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Greyzone is principally anti-American, which in our context is much more anti-imperialist than most other news outlets. It's a problematic publication but they're able to contribute to the wider net of anti-imperialist news reporting in the English language.

I havent thought of it in at least a year but the last I heard it went into a bunch of TERFy stuff and with all the Dore and Maupinite conspiracy antivax sorts of things
