We had a few people pull out of their booked windows 11 upgrade appointments. Told my team we should still push it as an update anyway and when they complain shrug and say "sorry, pulling out isnt always effective".

First day of the new job. I'm going to approach it with zero expectations.

One of the first things I'm going to do is login to everything on the work pc. Even if I'm just browsing aussie.zone, manager logic is I'm being productive if I'm on the computer, you're only slacking off on your phone

Had a great time in Melbourne. The Jurassic World exhibition was a lot of fun. Took little one into the city and the National Art Gallery which she enjoyed.

But more importantly, Slurpees were a hit and she is more convinced than ever to move back to Melbourne.

Hour and half into my day and it's brutal. Logging in makes me feel like I never had a break.

My Monday is going to be Wednesday and I'm mildly dreading it - even though I was back last week for two days it's like they never happened.

What I'm dreading more is getting myself ready for uni fieldwork and writing up parts of the paper... brain has totally switched off from that.

Boardies bum seam repair survived (to my surpise)! No moons, and the tape didn't stick to the no no region.

Guessing the salt water won't be good for the adhesive though.

And yet another wave:

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

I think it’s time to thank the boardies for their service and retire them. Duct tape sounds like it will not end well!

Alright, doctor booked for this stupid migraine thing. Gonna get the physio to take a look as well.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

Mine came from a shoulder injury.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

thats just it, no new injury or anything like that I'm aware of. So I figured getting assessed isnt a bad idea.

Hot tea being spilled left and right at work today, I love hearing the drama when I'm not a part of it!

So here's the gossip.

One of the remaining 3 (of which i am one) account managers resigned.

So his clients get divided up between me and the other one.

Yay.

lovely day here, think I might go to bunnings and get some orchid mix :)

I have stuff to do but I might take a break for a few days

Could you grab me a roll of fallopian tubing and a metric adjustable spanner?

First day on the new job was uneventful and went pretty much as expected. A bunch of long meetings, didn't get a laptop until 2, and then couldn't login anyway. So I really just hung out in the office for 8 hours.

I could see this job being alright as long as the day to day doesn't suck. I have a feeling it may be alright but I'll just have to give it more time

Back to work today....about 300 odd emails to get through, thankfully less than 25% will be pertinent.

An old colleague reached out to me over the weekend, regarding a role at his current work (large company, pretty cool project). Emailed their recruiting person to get some more details about it.

Good news is, clothes might actually dry today outside!!

[-] [email protected] 9 points 4 months ago

Managed 5 hours in a row of sleep again! Hell yeah.

on train
one guy singing what sounds like a prayer softly to himself
one woman on the phone in English but switches to demon beast growling occasionally

Maybe there are no words in English to express what she needs to say. Or there’s a demon beast in the other end…

Ripped my boardies riding back from the beach last night. The bum seam from sitting on the seat. They're very old. So with a bit of poor sewing, some stitchofix fabric adhesive stuff and some duct tape (lol) we're going to see if it holds tonight. Should probably bin them but i just want to see if it works.

Holidays are officially over - just got my first debt collection call of the year.

Optus sold my debt to them, I never paid my last bill due to the Optus data leaks. Sorry not sorry.

I'm never gonna buy a house or anything, or take out a loan, so why should I care? Besides that, my only debts are HECS/HELP and my TAFE fee (which I pay in installments by DD every month).

YOLO πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Goodnight everybody . Sweet dreams 😘

First day back in my course tonight. I have like 10 mins til I need to begin the process of getting on (involves multiple sign ons and OTPs, eugh). Haven't used my laptop since before I moved, so windows has decided that I HAVE to do updates. Started 5 minutes ago, and we're only 4%.

FFS windows.

"Oh no, fuck! But it's stuck at 99%! How the heck am I gonna pay the rent?? Gonna be homeless because I forgot to update windows"

The flies recently have been absolutely insane. Since that coincides with the end of TheStenchℒ️, I'm going to assume that either they ate TheStench, or they flies I killed laid their eggs in TheStench, and now they've run out of food

There's a gap in the skylight in the laundry that I can't put back myself because when I tried the entire thing fell out and it was a bitch and a half to put back in. The flies have been escaping from there. I went in and absolutely doused it with fly spray last night, and there are at least a hundred dead flies everywhere now. There's a few dozen on the floor that escaped the gap, and I counted about 90 in the skylight. Ugh

On the double downside, all the flys have brought a number of spider out of hiding. There's at least 2 living in my fruit bowl, and I've seen a bunch of others around. Thankfully not gigantic ones, but I'm still scared of spiders so it isn't exactly ideal

Next weekend I reckon I'm doing bug bombs. This house was empty for a fair while before I moved in, so it'll probably do good. Gonna buy a cobweb thingy too
