The .worlders have been talking a lot of shit when it comes to .ml, but that sort of fearmongering also has the unintended effect of highlighting where the non lib-curated instances are in the most "a vote for bart is a vote for anarchy" way ever.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

Oh yeah I don't fuck with .worlders. I just vaguely remember our instances butting heads at one point. Given how seriously hexbear takes its principles and purpose that doesn't even really imply anything negative about the .ml userbase, it's just different posting cultures. Or was. Shit even well meaning posters from here slip on banana peels ass first into posting whack shit.

I like your observation about the knock-on effect of .world's liberal pearl clutching helping to form a better counterculture on the other (good) instances though. I wonder if the reverse is in effect too and hexbear is helping set a good example? Just musing. I know our respective admin and mod teams work hard as fuck and communicate to keep this federation comfy and friendly.

This is an invasion! Put your hands up and eat our cookies!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How do I eat cookies with my hands in the air?!

By holding the cookies in my mouth and offering it to your mouth. panting

I mean don't get me wrong I know technically we should have always gotten along well, given their historically low-key ideological alignment. But I'm sure I remember struggles. Am I trippin?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

That’s probably lemmy.world you’re thinking of.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

lemmy.ml is the OG devs' instance right? I seem to recall their politics not really guiding the culture of the instance.

.world has always been insufferably lib

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

One of the lemmies is so fucking lib I swear to god, forget about reddit, it feels like some dumbass version of slashdot

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago
