I nonjokingly think too many of them get their ideas about dating, and women in general, from fiction, or even "dating sims." 
That's a charitable interpretation. I think most of them get their ideas on those subjects from redpill/manosphere influencers.

It's arguably easier to sexually replace men in a hetero relationship with a machine proxy than it is to replace women, even going into the cleaning/maintenance side of the machinery.
