For reals yeah. I work retail and the number of times I'll work 6 hours before getting my break only to immediately get called down for assistance. And then customers wonder why I'm grumpy and not very "helpful". Maybe the store could have more than 1 fucking person working at time in my department?

Being able to just chop off someone's hand and be like, "I've already walked 20,000 steps today I'm fucking tired you pieces of shit, you want service? Don't bitch about it."

I swear I had some psychotic Ukrainians in buying BBQs, and the fucker wanted to open the box before he bought it to make sure it wasn't damaged. Which yeah sure fine let's open the 80 pound box of sharp metal pieces that once taken out of the box can never returned to it and check the 40 fucking pieces metal that are jammed inside of styrofoam so I'll get bits of styrofoam all me. This was after waiting like 7 hours for a break that I then had to wait like 40 minutes for these chuckle fucks to decide if they wanted the thing. The real kicker? His SUV was full of stuff and he brought 3 passengers so we couldn't put the seat down. Like what the fuck dipshit? No things don't fit when it's already full you ass hole!

Love having to work.

People facing jobs are HELL. I do one and I fucking hate it sometimes, don't wanna imagine what you are going through. People think they can treat you like a toy - dont let it get you down. idk the scenario but not treating the treat demons like 18th century nobility (usual reason for customer dissatisfaction) is not grounds for getting screamed at - they are quite likely in the wrong. I hate the nervousness about them going to your manager or leaving bad reviews. I hate western culture, lol

As a cook, I fucking hate appeasing asshole tables just to get them out of my friend's who eork foh's hair. We can run 3 tables of nice people in the time it takes for 1 prick table and I don't ever wanna hear someone I'm busting my ass to cook a good meal for is being rude. I at least like to know so I can get the kitchen.to make their food suck, they can keep sending stuff back, it'll Just get saltier. Front of house are my comrades and I don't wanna make good food for bad people. We can run 3 normal person tables for every 1 shitty person, the extra attention paid to.that ashole means 2 other good customers are being neglected.

I didn't know that. Ya I never complain unless it's been an hour or so, and even then it's like "um sir did you forget my dish by chance?"

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 months ago

Honestly over 20 minutes is reasonable ans you can also adjust based on how busy stuff looks, if it's packed 40 minutes could be the case, empty, maybe it's 15 bit tbh, we are trying to let you finish a drink and maybe buy a second when your food comes as well. But if you ask nice it's all good and we do fuck up, sometimes the printer system has glitch and we just don't get an oder and sometimes it's good old fashioned human error, but if that's the case we will.hear back about it and how chill you seem and if you're being cool about it, you're not only bumped to the front, you get bonus stuff if it's our fuck up, we can tell and we do fuck up, it happens way more than customers would ever see, if you're cool about it, we'll genuinely feel like making it up

fidel-salute thank you for your service. Multiple tours in FOH myself. Nothing is better than working somewhere with FOH and BOH solidarity

I work the window, so I'm the go between and you're both my co workers, we're all in it together

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

How annoying is it when people make special orders, like asking to leave out an ingredient? I have some things I'm picky about eating but I also don't want to be an asshole to the staff.

after almost a decade of retail after a couple years of food service i gotta say cooking is way better for your mental health but also a lot of fucking work

I miss my room service job though, that was sweet af, just sleep all day in front of a space heater and wait for phone calls and drop shit off with minimal interaction while getting a built in 18% gratuity on everything + most people tipped.

Amerikkkans are just the worst people

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 months ago

am Amerikkkan, can confirm

[–] [email protected] 28 points 3 months ago

Try replying we dont have time to get into it

sorry that happened, customer service is punishing as

[–] [email protected] 25 points 3 months ago

I work retail and whenever I am on the customer end of customer service I try to be as nice as possible. I know what the other side is like. Also, on a personal note, getting to know your coworkers by shitting on customers in the break room is a good way to build comradery, get to know people, and relieve stress.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 months ago

At the price point that they're paying, you're allowed to hit

[–] [email protected] 19 points 3 months ago

I actually can't imagine myself doing retail or food service. I would shut down so quickly :( Tech support at a uni was the closest I did and I was not well suited to that

Spit in their food. Seriously fuck the people who have such little respect for a fellow human that they would berate a service industry worker because their burger had onions on it.

You don’t fuck with the people that handle your food. Hack a thick loogie onto their meal.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Spit in their food.

NO. Never, ever mess with people's food. EVER.

You want to yell at them? Fine. Kick them out? Even better. But never mess with people's food.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

you can't kick them out or yell at them without getting fired but you can spit in their food without anyone noticing

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah but it's pure revenge and the customer never even knows. There's no justice. Doing something that the customer will know about is way more satifying if you're going for revenge.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

It's plenty satisfying. The type of people that go to restaurants with that much entitlement will never actually learn. The revenge is for you, not for them.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

Suggesting to yell at a customer and likely lose your job is kind of a privileged take.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You ever work in a restaurant?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Three. I dealt with awful customers that I straight up hated, but because I never wanted anyone to do it to me, I never messed with people's food.

Customers get the most shitty when they are hungry too, truly the worst in people comes spilling out. I understand the temptation to get back at them.

Everyone working in food service should get one murder pardon per year, it would drastically improve diner behavior.
