June Jordan, born on this day in 1936, was a queer Jamaican-American author, feminist, and educator whose works include Some of Us Did Not Die and Report From the Bahamas. "Poetry is a political act because it involves telling the truth."

In her writing, Jordan explores issues of gender, race, capitalism, privilege, immigration, and representation. Jordan was passionate about using Black English in both her writing and her classroom, teaching her students to treat Black English as its own language and as an important outlet for expressing Black culture.

As a professor at Berkeley, Jordan founded the "Poetry for the People" program in 1991. Its aim was to inspire and empower students to use poetry as a means of artistic expression.

Although not widely recognized when first published in 1982, Jordan's essay "Report from the Bahamas", has since become an important work in gender studies, sociology, and anthropology.

"Poetry is a political act because it involves telling the truth."

What if instead of potato salad, it was tomato salad and it was nothing but tomatoes and that bitch Marianne from the local chamber of commerce was forced to eat it until she threw up because she criticized my potluck salad for "having way too many tomatoes."

Reading Before the Storm (Rick Perlstein's book about Goldwater and the rise of the conservative movement) and while obviously material conditions have changed, it's funny how it's largely the same bullshit you hear in politics now

SyrupQuest -- Epsa Lemon Soda (Greece): Found at a import store along my commute home. Pretty good. Lemon flavor stands out nice and clear, not too heavily carbonated. I like anything citrus-heavy.

Is there any place in this community or in one of the federated ones where I can ask like very general tech support questions? Like I wanna know why my PC doesn't fucking boot to the BIOS (And when it does, it gets into a infinite loop) whenever I have two sticks of RAM installed on my motherboard and stuff like that.

Like I need people to help me solve issues and be very patient because I barely know shit about this, like I barely know what CMOS is and what it's battery does.

Which slots are the sticks in, and are they a matched set or just two random sticks?

My only real vacation goal this year is to find a spot where the cicada broods overlap and bask in the noise. Basically approaching the sweet spot rn and may spend some of my meager money or pay for a fellow bug-enthusiast's gas to go out to some odd spot in the midwest and enjoy what used to be my favorite bug as a kid. Can you guess what my favorite arthropod is now?

Last night I had a weird dream that the city near my town built a large BRT network. The bus lanes were covered with a canopy and the entrance to them had those goofy car wash scrubbers.

There was also a large chuck e cheese sky tube network for people to crawl into.

It was human hamster tubes and buses

I just posted what I believe to be one of my best dunks. Come clap for me or give me constructive criticism - not about the argument tho. The prose, I wanna get better at writing
