birding
A community for people who like birds, birdwatching and birding in general!
Feel free to share your photos and other birding-related content here. If a photo you post isn't yours, please credit the original creator! Additionally, it would be appreciated if the location of the sighting and a date were given when a photo or question is posted. You do not have to give the precise location, something like "Northern Idaho, June 2023" or even "North-Western US, June 2023" suffices.
Ha! I didn't realize this was a thing! I just assumed I was the worst birder in existence. I'm so glad to feel a little less alone. π€£
It started out as trying to photograph new species that I didn't find before (gotta catch 'em all).
After a while I accepted some are less common to see, and I shifted to trying to get better photos or different positions of familiar birds to improve my skills.
I think either approach works, whichever makes you happy with the hobby.
Don't get many of them in Australia! I mean, they definitely exist, but the majority are anything but brown!
One of the reasons I really like seeing your posts is that the birds are so exotic to me!
Shout out to @[email protected] and @[email protected] too!
For me, it's great egrets!
Even when I went to another continent, it felt like they were following me! Everywhere I turned there was another great egret!
To be fair, they are very common birds in many places!
I see those all over the place! I love them, no two red spots the same. I'll occasionally see one mixed in with a group of pigeons, just chilling.
Lol it's cardinals and mockingbirds all day long for me
Starlings and Grackles here lol
If you go to the same place in the same month then yes.
I am half-joking because I know if I go to a different area I will spot other birds. But also I went to a place where there are (in theory) roughly 75 bird species inhabiting the space this month, and itβs clear that the vast majority of animals you see there are from the same species. You need to be consistent, persistent, and diligent to spot something βrareβ. But thatβs the joy of it, so it's all good!
Pokemon isn't about catching shinies every other attempt either.
