No need to post the pic of a stick if don't have any owls
Superbowl
For owls that are superb.
But it's a flaaaaming stick!
Another crazily camouflaged owl!
Yes, it has been hiding in plain sight for months.
I kept wondering if I had posted this pic before, but it looks to be the one I used as my profile pic for the last few months. It's nice to know who took the picture now.
Agreed. It's always nice to be able to find out who took the picture, what their story behind it is, or how they found the owl, etc
That camouflage is impressive!
I had to look twice, and then I really looked at how detailed the patterns on the feathers are... Nature is crazy!
I really like how it matches both the inner and outer bark of the tree here.
As tiny as it is in person, you'd never know it was there.
Exactly, we can see it cause the image is a close up and we're looking for it (the owl). Would be neat to try and look at wider-scale pictures to play "Spot the Owl" lol!
Heck yeah Flammy Friday!
Perfect time to share this great video I found on YouTube this week: https://youtu.be/JB28cZaqu5U?si=PYi-c0B7M23jVWsS&t=11m45s
Turns out our Flammy makes the dorkiest little "honk" sound and it cracks me up. His hoot is pretty adorable though.
More sounds of other North American owls in this vid as well!
That's a good hoot!
I was reading one story before of a person out looking for owls and there were dozens of them along the side of the road, and they weren't able to see them, but they said the hooting was just going all up and down the road. That would have been something to hear!
The bestest boy 🥰🤘🏽
I love seeing how his popularity has stuck around!
I was expecting the guy depositing and owl in the bank post to be a big hit, but Flammy here is beating it almost 2:1 right now.
Since the runway Superb Owl competition, I've read everything I can on our fabulous Flammulated friendos and have even played one in an RPG since. Little bark ninjas 🤩
That is awesome!
With a year's worth more awareness of him may be able to get him into the finals this year. He ran a good game against the famous Snowy for an owl nobody knew about beforehand.
Truly! What a champ! Nowadays, his RPG analog is running an import project with some entrepreneurial tooth fairies in the Feywild, so there's that. 🤪
Lol you never know what an owl will get into next!
Dang, that owl is out there showing up all our camo.
I wish there was a follow up with its eyes closed so it was even stealthier.
I am Grhoot!
That tree has been watching us
It is rather disconcerting when you think about it how many eyes may be on you at any given time.
Spotting spiders at night is really quite easy. Go outside after dark. Turn on the flashlight and hold it at the side of your head, even with your eye. You want the beam to be shining at the spot where you are looking, and you want the source of the light to be as close to your eye as possible. Then look slowly around your yard, paying close attention to grass, flower beds, etc.
If you look carefully, you should see some bright pinpoints of light. Examine these carefully. Some of them will probably be drops of water clinging to the plants, but many of them will turn out to be the eyes of spiders. Depending on where you live, the weather, and how carefully you look, you may see a few spiders, or you may see hundreds of them. It is amazing how many spiders there are out there.
