Since Germany's legalisation, I started rolling joints myself instead of making my SO do all the work lol

Ahhh yes the tampon phase. I remember those days.

Although in 2024 I would recommend anyone to be done with smoking and buy a vaporizer. Even if you don't consume as much, a dynavap is only 40-60EU, allows you to pretty much use any heat source, gives excellent vapor and is built to last.

Vaporents are the future :)

There's the ritual, doing the thing, and the social aspects of joints. I love a good vape too, but absolutely nothing will ever replace joints and blunts for me.

Dry herb flavor is bonkers. But, I've found that the effects are very different for me vs combustion. With combustion being preferred.

Interesting. They seem to be having a sale right now where I can get a rad neon pink colour "b" variant vape for 20€. Is this any good?

And compared to smoking with coal filters, are capes less damaging in terms of smoking? Afaik, it should be because you're essentially only inhaling hot air instead of actually burning matter, right? Not a huge concern for me, but something I'd be interested to know.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I have no experience with the B but I think they should be fine. It's the same tip as the M but just a silicone stem. There will be a durability difference in relation to stainless steel obviously but that's why it's cheaper.

Make sure to watch a few videos because there is a little bit of a learning curve and the activity itself is different from smoking a joint.

With regards to health vaping is currently assumed to be definitely less hazardous.

For me the nicest thing about legalization has been moving to vape cartridges. Especially if you are a very infrequent smoker.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

As a very infrequent smoker: please tell me more!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

The cartridges never go bad so as long as you store them properly you can keep one more or less indefinitely. They're pretty cheap too. And less harsh than flower. Very convenient if you just want something around to use whenever you need it. All you need is a battery.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The advancement of smoking tech in the legal market blows my mind.

God bless humanity for black markets, because fuck authoritarians, but also god bless humanity for free markets even more.

Most advanced idea in the black market was pot brownies. Five years after legalization and I’m buying little self contained vape cartridges where all I need to do is pull and out comes pot vapor of any strain I want.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yep. And it's cheaper too!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

So much cheaper. And I can get carts that smell like strawberries instead of pot, so I don’t get in trouble with my apartment building.

I use a re-usable battery, but the self-contained vapes are super impressive. No charging required, nothing but unwrap and pull.

Try to make sure there's no herb between the filter and the paper, makes getting it tight around the filter much easier. Once you manage to tuck the paper around the filter nicely and have a nice grip around that part, it's much easier to get the rest of the joint tight as well. And when the joint is properly tight around the filter, the filter won't fly off when you shake the joint from the other end to get it tighter.

Tldr just make sure you get the paper around the filter good and tight, the rest will fall in place

Hey thanks.

That's not common for someone to say about me, haha.

Anyone in here roll them backwards or inside out? That's my favorite way, burn off the excess paper. You look like a true pro rolling those ones

Dutch style.

Nice work. Good use of the roach. When I roll it takes me about 10-20 minutes and while that's a long time for some, I just prefer my joints to have a more packed feeling. My advice is to get a set of "tools" or just one, which will act as a poker and a tamper to pack your leaves down in the tube before you seal it. Helps avoid the bit of a gap you have at the bottom. You'll notice a better pull on the smoke when you inhale and your joints will burn more evenly/waste less weed. Happy smoking from California.

This is the way. I'm a little bit spoiled and just use preolled cones. But you can still fuck it up. I have real good luck with a 10-12" poking stick, sitting it inside the cone, and then pouring my bud into the funnel. This way the poking stick is preventing the bud from falling until I pull up on it and twist letting only a little bit of bud at a time to fall to the very bottom, tamp down on the bud that fell, and repeat 4-5 times depending on the size of the joint.

Packs it evenly and you don't get that weak spot right after the filter where it never gets packed down.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

We have a makeshift tray out of carton that has a crease where I can put the paper with the filter, and we use a little cocktail-umbrella-thingy to push the weed a little further down the joint. Though I didn't feel like I needed it necessarily - I was mostly fine just lightly tapping the bottom of the joint on the table to get a somewhat even distribution.

Which gap do you mean exactly? Don't quite know what you mean

Thanks for the tips. Cheers!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

On the bottom right of the joint in your picture, it looks like there's space where you can see through the paper. Get something like a lolli pop stick, and before you tie off the end, tamp the weed down so it's all a tighter pack. The more even the pack, the better the burn.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

Oh, yea, I see it now. I think I just squished the paper at that spot so it didn't distribute equally. I'll make sure to try this next time

My hands and fingers are jealous. I bought some cheap little cigarette roller thing for when I want to roll some. It does a pretty decent job actually.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (3 children)

Dude, it's not easy at all. I had to start again because the first one wouldn't close properly. My shaky fingers did not do an amazing job at the second attempt either, I'd argue :D

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, the cigarette roller thingy

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

If you're struggling, you can try to roll the cone first and then pack it. I'm a complete klutz and that's what I did when I was smoking. With time, you'll become comfortable enough to roll "conventionally".

The problem with it not properly closing is usually that you packed it too full btw.

You'll get it after years and years and rolling thousands. It'll be normal. Then you can move on to a reverse or inside out joint. I don't even know how to call it. Just flip the paper over so the glue is on the outside bottom, now when it's rolled there will a bunch of excess paper you can burn off. Makes a better tasting joint because you're using less paper. And when you burn off the excess, if you turn the joint just right, you can light the joint too. People will think it's amazing.

https://www.bcsmokeshop.ca/products/raw-rolling-machines

It’s all hemp based and stupidly cheap on Amazon, like $8 cad.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Looks good to me! I haven't rolled a joint in a decade, maybe I should change that

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

🙏🏻

How do you smoke?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I just pack a bowl or take an edible

Practice makes perfect!

Nice looking joint.

Took a lot of effort on my part lol

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Do you compress the pot by rolling it back and forth before wrapping the paper? Also is your pot dry?

This particular joint looks like it’s kinda loose.

I knew an old guy with no teeth in Indiana who was part of a family that sold tons of pot. This guy was the family’s designated joint roller and holy shit could he roll a joint. They were perfectly cylindrical, with a filter at one end and the other end tucked down tighter and more symmetrically than an angel’s butthole.

We used to sit there and smoke those joints and play “Greedy”, which is a dice game involving five dice.

Later when I was introduced to the November Games at MIT, the dice game they play is identical to Greedy.

Do you use OCB Coal filters? These can be a little bit tricky to get rolled into a joint. I like the Curved OCB Tips the most, maybe give them a try to up your game. Although this looks pretty good for a start.
