Either way, there is a lot of things where a book, with illustrations or not, is an inefficient way to convey information.

This is one of my all-time least favorite takes.

For a lot of stuff, text is a good way to present information. For a lot of other things, information is best processed visually, often in the form of a video. Think repair, building stuff, 3D software, complicated GUI software in general, sports and gym technique, physiotherapy, anything that involves spatial motor skills really.

Imagine if IKEA instructions were text-only?

fuck science and evidence

Most science about human behavior deals with averages. It's completely possible that a subpopulation might show an inverse trend. This is especially the case when it's a subpopulation with known differences in similar behavior. I'm not saying ADHD people benefit from multitasking, but we just can't say anything based on the general population.

And for another anecdote, literally nobody I know who has ADHD is loved at their job for having it. They all struggle to hold jobs.

A friend of mine is excelling at sales and that is due to his personality, including ADHD. In most jobs, of course, it's not beneficial and can pose problems. But that doesn't mean you can't find jobs that are well-suited for ADHD people – maybe even better suited than for neurotypicals.

What interests you and what do you value? There are no universal answers to a question like this.

22:00 bedtime / 06:00 wake-up time daily is what you do in the army in my country. No smartphone too. This seems excessive for a normal 15 year old.

Why are cardiac deaths skyrocketing in 25-44 year olds? Scientists found microplastics in human heart arteries - linked to heart attacks, strokes, and premature death. We're breathing, eating, and drinking plastic every day. But here's the real scandal - only 10% of plastic actually gets recycled. Big Oil has known this for decades.

Discover the explosive lawsuits against Exxon, Coca-Cola, and Pepsi that expose how plastic recycling was never a solution - just an excuse to produce more. Plus: what you can actually do about it featuring Judith Enck, from Beyond Plastics

My country does not have a culture war over bike lanes, that sounds insane… But I get it in some sense its similar to other conservative tactics

Hi all! I wrote a small Python utility that scrobbles your iPod play history on last.fm. It is made for the newer iPod nanos (6th gen+) that I didn’t get to work with the existing projects. You can install it via the Python package manager Pip by running pip install ipodnano-scrobbler.

Krita. I had a uni licence for Photoshop for years, even took a Photoshop course but still kept using Krita. It has an intuitive UI and all the tools I'll ever need.

RStudio+R is way better than any of its proprietary alternatives.

Blender. I'm no 3D modling expert but it does everything I as a hobbyist want to do with it and so much more. Nowadays, the UI is pretty decent, too.

Finally, the Lagrange browser is really good. The gemini protocol is kinda niche though, but if you're interested it's unreasonably pretty, well optimized and has a great UX. The guy who maintains it really puts his heart and soul into it.

I found this interesting, especially the discussion on navigating social situations in a pronatalist world.

IDK man, the people with no or few friends tend to be weird but not really bad in any meaningful way: socially awkward, shy, odd interests, neurodivergent etc. Difficult to get to know, plain and simple. People with a lot of friends are often worse people, manipulative and/or have a transactional attitude to relationships
