Emoji problems (mander.xyz)
submitted 3 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I can't see emojis anymore, they don't work on librewolf.

I first noticed this under a post titled something like "try telling a story using only emojis". The comments were empty.

If I open the same page in brave browser, they work as intended. I can't see emojis in apps like libreoffice either. Is there a way to get system-wide emoji support?

(I am on Fedora 42)

An argument can be made that all actions people take are for their own self-interest. Even things like helping the community is done for reciprocal benefits for yourself plus the general increase in respect.

Another point is that if all people just act for their own self-interest, they will have a better life themselves, and if everyone does the same, some sort of proper balance will be achieved.

I have been having some occasional discussions with my friends over this. I personally disagree, but would love to hear what others have to say. Feel free to discuss!

It's freeing in a way, I don't have to do any extra processing in my head, and can just see the posts and comments for what they are. You should try it too!

It's more that I wanted to remind others. I was thinking of posting this in the "YouShouldKnow" community at first, but I figured that it wouldn't fit there.

I’ll have to figure out where to do that

If you are using something like a third-party client (may be an Android/IOS app that you use to access lemmy), it depends on the app.

If you use lemmy from a website, i.e the official https://lemm.ee/ site, you can navigate to your settings and disable it, just click on the settings button:

then scroll down and find these:

Edit: I see you've found it, Welcome to lemmy!

I couldn't search for it either. Is this intentional?

I agree, they are actually really cute.

Yeah, Fedora is a really sane and stable distro in my experience. It supports almost everything that can be supported, I have never had to hunt down fixes for malfunctioning hardware.

Whenever I have to install linux somewhere, it's either Fedora or Debian depending on how often I want to open the machine. I'm already used to both the distros and their package managers, and both always "just work" for my purposes.

Assuming a penis weighs about 0.1 kilograms^1, and the average weight of a man is around 90 kilograms[^2], we can assume that you will be roughly 0.11% more man!!!

(BY MASS)The measure may be different if we calculate by a change in volume.

PipePipe works perfectly for me with a VPN. FreeTube also works, but I have to change the VPN server once in a while.

If all else fails, yt-dlp.

Yeah, I agree with your statement. Not in a degrading way though. I know people whose lives have been so difficult, agonizing and full of abuse. Religion is what got them through those times and gave them hope. I am an atheist too, a very radical one at that, but I can imagine these people would have similar reactions if their only source of spiritual comfort was aggressively denied.

So they do need serious psychological help, but not because they are stupid to react that way, if that was what you meant.
