In the world of typecasts, there's a very important place: One Typed Page. There, everyone can send a photo of a typewritten page, and it will be published. Yes, it's that simple, and a good way to try typecasting! Here, the harvest of the day.

There's a new place in the Lemmyverse for the community of typewriter lovers: [email protected].

This community is dedicated to blogs and websites which publish scans of typewritten pages, a.k.a. typecasts. And if you want to publish a typecast directly uploading a photo of a page you typed, you can!

[email protected] will welcome posts about typewriters; [email protected] posts written with typewriters; and posts written with and about typewriters will be welcomed on both!

What's to/a typecast?

To typecast, to put it simply, is to publish online a text (a blogpost, poetry, a short story, …) which contain partly or in totality a photo of a typewritten text.

A typecast is the result of this publication.

Why do such a thing?

Why not?

More seriously, there's a few reasons to do that. One of them is simply to showcase one's collection of typewriters. An other is because typewritten texts can become artistic creations by themselves. Or because typewritten texts tend to be more raw, less polished, maybe more authentic than regular blogposts. It's also just an excuse to use our beloved typewriter(s)!

What's the typosphere?

The typosphere is the online community of typewriter enthusiasts. Some typecast, others don't.

On the lemmyverse, the typosphere is represented by three communities:

There are many possible points of disagreement within Christianity because, like it or not, the Bible is unclear and even contradicts itself on many subjects (and this is a Christian saying this). But prosperity theology is so clearly the opposite of everything in the Bible that any self-respecting evangelical should ostracize it. That they don't is the proof that the gospel is not what many evangelicals are interested in.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Windows, is in fact, Firefox/Windows, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Firefox plus Windows. Windows is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another component of a fully functioning Firefox system made useful by the Firefox browser, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS.

Many computer users run a modified version of the Firefox system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Firefox which is widely used today is often called Windows, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Firefox system, developed by Mozilla.

There really is a Windows, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Windows is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Windows is normally used in combination with the Firefox operating system: the whole system is basically Firefox with Windows added, or Firefox/Windows. All the so-called Windows distributions are really distributions of Firefox/Windows!

I begun judo a few weeks ago. The teacher was clear: it may not be useful in actual fight, but we don't fight often in the real life. But it's great for your body, spirit and it will teach you how to fall without hurting yourself. And these things are way more useful than self defense.

Fake, but even if it was true, the problem would have probably been the age change and not the gender change. Teenage relationships and adult relationships have different rules…

They are probably like me, thinking that the year 2000 was 10 years ago.

It's a great novel, but not a love story.

Not all handicaps are visible. I know someone, quite young (mid-30s) and very healthy-looking. But she has a bad tension: if she stays standing for too long, it's very uncomfortable and she may even faint. Older people feel entitled to take her seat and don't understand when she refuse.

I find it mildly infuriating that people still buy on Amazon 😅
