FDR may have tried to frame it that way in 1938 but 25 cents an hour was not a living wage then, either. Not really:

As others have rightly pointed out, the twenty-five-cent minimum wage passed at the time only amounted to the equivalent of a $4.54 per hour minimum wage is 2019 dollars. This wage is enough to avoid starvation but would obviously fall short of the kind of lifestyle proponents of a $15 per hour minimum wage advocate for today.

It’s true that the minimum wage is a not a living wage. I don’t know when it ever was.

I’m not saying it does, but as an adult you are responsible for your choices. None of what you’re saying would ever stand up in court.

Just as a point of perspective, I’m 51 and my wife is 46. We are entirely independent and on great terms with all our parents. I still don’t relish the idea of staying overnight at her parents house with them.

Gotta fight that declining birthrate. What better way than to dump babies into a home that you know is getting ready to care for babies?

Yeah it just sounds ridiculously high in low cost of living areas where Fox’s faithful all live.

They really do hear this as “look at this outrageous tax on small business owners” instead of “oh look a living minimum wage - that would be good for Timmy when he graduates high school next year.”

Because the single most most thing in the entire world to them is making absolutely sure at all costs that no one “bad” ever gets anything for free. Even if that means leaving whole generations of their own kind without a pot to piss in. Better that 100 deserving should starve than one degenerate get a free lunch.

They go on their gut, not on data. And that too is a choice they make as adults which I think we can hold them responsible for.

Yeah, considering what garbage tends to top the trending charts at YT, I think a blank page is better than if they just show the most popular videos of the day.

You never know - sometimes people go against the grain. For example some of the best parents I know had shitty parents growing up.

I’m confused… China is dependent on oil imports flowing through the strait of Hormuz. Much more so than the US is. In fact the US maintains a naval presence in the region specifically so they’d have the capability to block that strait and starve China of oil. China produces very little oil of their own, though they have coal up the wazoo. Blocking that strait is the US’s main card to play if China invade Taiwan.

I’m an American and I hate to break this to you but the people elected this clown. That’s how it works here. You didn’t vote for him? Okay. But until you’re doing absolutely everything you can to prevent people like him being elected, you don’t get to just shrug off responsibility. I know exactly two people who are doing everything they can, and neither of them is me.

It would disgust decent people everywhere if SBF got a pardon. So I'd say he has a shot! The only question is: what can he offer Trump? Advice on crypto scams, perhaps?

I enjoy the various endgame activities and tweaking my build to try new things. But it doesn’t seem right that I am only level 80 and haven’t gotten a piece of gear I care about in a long time. Grinding out those last Paragon points hardly seems worth it.

  1. Get a reply to a comment
  2. View your inbox, see that reply
  3. Wonder what your comment was again, and what they are replying to…
  4. Tap their reply

Expect: go to the reply, in context, in the thread, ideally with your comment that they are replying to shown also (wefwef currently does this)

Actual: go to thread, but neither the reply nor your comment are shown - you have to scroll the entire thread and find them

Why a priority? Because this directly impedes back and forth conversation, which is the whole mode of Lemmy.

Appreciate the work. Thanks for hearing this feedback.
