I don't care about any of them. I pretty much only watch people here or academics on YT with a PhD. I quit watching TV when it came with terms and conditions.

Gevalia. Their medium traditional roast has no bitterness. It is great black.

It is ~~almost~~ like a propagandized media without freedom of the press from all directions, political, commercial, and the legislature; like someone made a single decision to change posture

Water is the secret. Dump water over your clothes to greatly increase evaporative cooling in any situation. Every few minutes dump a whole cup over your head, back, and chest. You can endure much higher temperatures this way.

In this place. Likely a significant segment only use pixel's because of Graphene OS, but that may be changing soon because google is doing worthless stupid shit and making Android much less open source in practice.

I don't ever shop for hardware specifications for anything any more. I look for hardware that open source software projects support, and try to buy whatever the lead developers seem to own based on the repo history visualization in the gource package on Linux. All mobile system-on-chip (processors) and cell modems are undocumented proprietary junk and running proprietary orphaned kernels. So all available devices are just rentals at ownership prices. This is classic criminal extortion. I don't trust software from any criminal enterprise such as this, so I shop for who creates the best alternative available without criminal control as much as possible. Graphene or Lineage OS are two common options.

Nutshell, until I build some calluses again. I haven't played much the last couple of years, but it has been a part of me 27 of 40 years, a facet now much larger than without. It is strange how much the music one first learns anchors the soul

Most athletes make next to nothing. Like I worked with a 3 time Olympic track rider. At that level, the sport consumes your whole life just to complete at Olympics level. No one at the Olympics is making money at it. Everyone is broke and barely skating by. I worked with pro cycling teams and it was the same story for all, even many recognizable names are just poor people that love it in many cases. There are very very few big name celebrity types that actually make good money.

Poor girl. I've never met a super tall girl that liked being tall. In my teens I worked Nordstrom women's shoes. That is one of the only places with a stock of very large sizes.

Super tall women are an involuntary circus act everywhere they go. I don't envy that. All I have met have a certain sadness in their eyes. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I see sad eyes here.

Recent meme post prompted this as a needed reminder of what the issue with audio is, and how it should be fixed legislatively in a civilized world.

Sorry if abstract meta questions are not your thing. I find it interesting to discover other perspective views.
I was in the shower with the thought, "Is any narcissist self aware of their narcissism?"
Maybe meta awareness of narcissism is like intelligence, beauty, or hearing one's own voice. We may infer information based upon feedback, but lack an objective frame of reference.

On another level, I am aware of how I am abstract in functional thought, like inferencing across many unrelated spaces, and big-picture meaning. I'm aware of my intuition as it relates to others in general, but I'm not aware of my own beauty or intelligence as it contrasts with others.

Are there universal unknowns? Are we always ungrounded in all self perception; only overconfident in our self asserting narratives? What are your thoughts? Are you intelligently beautiful and teflon to the accusation of narcissism? Perhaps charisma is the ultimate superhero mask.

It is an abstract question that just crossed my mind after Lady Butterfly's post a few minutes ago in c/mental health.

To be clear, I do not mean whether one should apologise. I do not mean that the act of apologizing has no meaning. I'm specifically asking if the person that expects someone else to apologize is driven by their own narcissism.

I personally place very very little value on words compared to actions. The act of apologizing has a tiny value to me, but the words are nearly meaningless. One is defined by one's actions, not words, and not intentions. I never expect an apology. I want actionable, notable change.

I was physically disabled by a man and most of my life was taken away from me, but I still have no desire to hear some apology. In fact, it would come across as his selfishness for wanting to feel better about the chaos he caused if he tried to apologize. I don't want vengeance. The only apology I would value is some measure of ongoing restitution. Short of such an effort, I would feel insulted by the overture of an apology.

From this perspective, expecting an apology seems narcissistic to me, but I would like to know if you feel differently and are able to articulate a nuanced perspective.

https://fortune.com/2025/07/16/delta-moves-toward-eliminating-set-prices-in-favor-of-ai-that-determines-how-much-you-personally-will-pay

Delta has a long-term strategy to boost its profitability by moving away from set fares and toward individualized pricing using AI. The pilot program, which uses AI for 3% of fares, has so far been “amazingly favorable,” the airline said. Privacy advocates fear this will lead to price-gouging, with one consumer advocate comparing the tactic to “hacking our brains.”

Call it something like greentext or confessions or something. Anyone posting is automatically set to Anonymous with no link whatsoever to the original account for admin or users to track or in the logs/activity pub etc. Like the person will not get replies, notifications on their account for the post, or the ability to reply as Anon. Simply streamline creation of a throw away account using the existing credentials of an existing account for post access and to give automod a chance to act. Maybe bar new accounts or below a certain threshold of engagement.

I just watched a Geology Hub upload on the Cerberean Caldera super eruption in what is now Australia. It happened over 300 million years ago, but in terms of the total age of the planet, even 300 million years is a relatively tiny blip. So have there been any significant epics to truly say events like x, y, or z will never happen again – in any statistically significant way? Will there be another Deccan or Siberian Traps or Columbia River Flood Basalts – one geologic timescale day in the future and countless more in the eons to follow?

I have heard the term news aggregator too. What do these definitions mean to you? How would you define the category?

This has been through many days of iterations and designs. Most involved over center mechanisms or wheel levers before this design dawned on me. The bottom right is how it prints. The "spring" is a double forked 10mm bridge in the last few millimeters inside the enclosed print. The visible "clamp" is connected to the spring by forking into two paths that branch beside the tube that the spade terminal is inserted through. The clamping force is not great but it is sufficient for a reliable basic electrical connection for bench testing. The pictured driver is a very small tweeter and is barely held in place with both wires inserted between the print and spade terminal.

I wanted something that would fit on the faceplate of the little hacked audio amp enclosure I have been designing. I think 6 of these will barely fit across the front and under the actual circuit board assembly.

This one might be worth the hassle of setting up an account and sharing on printables if it does not require the goggle server connection like it did in the past when I tried.

The thing is, I dial in my prints to 0.3mm clearances and this absolutely requires that clearance. I do not care to print other people's designs because most are really terrible for things like supports, designing for 3d printing, clearances, and general slop. I'll occasionally toss someone else's STEP or STL in FreeCAD and rebuild the thing but I usually just use some conceptual idea of anything I see elsewhere. I think with this one, I could share it as a negative Boolean STEP file to be most useful. Then it would only require others to import and do a boolean cut operation to use the design. Maybe I will do so if it works out well in my enclosure with 6 of these all resolving well and functional. What do you think, would you ever care to find and print something like this in one of your designs? Do you think anyone would even understand the value of printing such fundamental componentry instead of buying hardware and gluing it together with a 3d printed design? Like, this could easily be configured to use a loop of solid core copper wire as the connector terminal for a low voltage bench power supply that requires no other hardware.

Also, I had a rather irritating encounter with Dessalines (the Lemmy Dev) on ML a few days ago. I want to move off of Lemmy but I kinda like the rest of you, so maybe piefed is an option. I haven't looked into it deeply as I thought rust was worth supporting more, however empowering these guys as authoritarians is not on my list. I'm in a position to move this community if people want but like I always say, I'm just the janitor here. I do not matter. I would just as soon give this place to someone else if that is best for the community. I only want what is best for all, which is probably stability first and foremost, but if you feel otherwise, maybe mention it, maybe we'll make it happen.
