At least two major events that happen in my city have announced a full ban on the pervert glasses

small rant incoming

I work for a company that it's mostly hardware focused, but we do ship some software for the final consumer including drivers and programs, to make use of said hardware.

While I am not in the software department, I held some SWE positions in previous companies for over a decade, our software isn't very complex and I do know most of it pretty well.

Our employee just announced a new AI-only development cycle, they want all code submissions and reviews to be exclusively done by claude, effectively ending ownership of the code being shipped to customers. This is absolute madness.

Today, I received an email scheduling a workshop on how to integrate claude into vscode and how to work with the new gitflow, namely removing our authorship from commits and having al code reviews done by a LLM now.

I am just baffled at the decision.

edit: wow I'm a bit overwhelmed by the response, I did read all of you. Thanks!

I got banned from r/unpopularopinion circa 2015 for trolling. I submitted a post saying that only because something is on Netflix, doesn't mean that it is automatically good. I got downvoted to hell and a lot of comments showing counter-examples, now that I think about, it must've been Netflix PR team.

Anyhow, decided to delete my account that was prior to the Digg migration, then made a new one, but never posted again. Now I'm here and loving it!

First of all I don't live in a neighbourhood with something equivalent of a HOA, but we do have an organisational unit that involves the group of 6 homes where I live in.

We had a meeting regarding the repair of a shared drain pipe following an inspection we had earlier this year, the camera inspection had a cost of €120 that was equally divided among 6 households, so €20 each, nice and easy.

After getting the quote for the repairs, one of our neighbours asked chatgpt to split the bill, €1500 divided by 6.

edit: paraphrasing, he proudly said "I asked chatgpt and 1500/6 is 250”

Do you really need to ask an LLM to divide two numbers? something the cheapest calculator can do instantly, or better yet, something you can easily do I your head?

I absolute despise when people dismiss some videogames as a boomer thing. Boomers did not play videogames (in general), as a matter of fact, most of them hated them.

I’m watching people in my industry (software development) who’ve bought into this crap forget how to code in real-time while they’re producing the shittiest garbage I’ve laid eyes on as a developer.

I just spent two days fixing multiple bugs introduced by some AI made changes, the person who submitted them, a senior developer, had no idea what the code was doing, he just prompted some words into Claude and submitted it without checking if it even worked, then it was "reviewed" and blindly approved by another coworker who, in his words, "if the AI made it, then it should be alright"

I have a similar story to share.

When I was in my early 20s I briefly dated a girl who told me she was having feelings for another woman and was being curious, she eventually broke up with me in order to be with her, but we remained good friends after that.

Eventually she came out as a lesbian and when I told her that I was bi she immediately ended our friendship all even yelled some slurs at me.

AFAIK she's married with a guy and has kids now
