The suffering is the point under capitalism. It's forced slavery where society itself is the slave driver. The rich LOVE it.
That movie is magical! ... just ... not exactly on purpose, nor too related to actual Mario.
Banned for speaking the truth. Yep, that sounds like Reddit.
Agreed. A lot of people really don't understand that there is a contigency of "feminists" that still stick to the man hater schtick. Though similarly, a lot of people (mostly guys like OP and the angry feminists too) need to understand that shitting on guys in general hasn't been the accepted norm for feminism in quite a few decades.
Also that pointing out toxic masculinity isn't a personal attack, though some people seem to enjoy phrasing their critiques as attacks... Not so helpful!
Don't freak out about it "becoming like reddit". It's designed like reddit! It's inevitable that it will look like Reddit in many ways, and inheret many of its social norms too, unfortunately. The good thing is, if any instance seems to particularly suck, you're not stuck with "lemmy" as the only option. You can find other servers that don't federate with the trashy instances, or focus on things closer to your hobbies or those niche communities you want to see more of. You're not stuck with one single "lemmy" like with reddit.
Just be the change you want to see: Want to see more niche communities? Make some well meaning posts in some, even if they appear dead. See a lot of a-holes? Don't let them spoil your mood and continue to post/reply nice things. If you're easy to troll, just block the agitators that want to poke your buttons instead of angrily replying.
You're still doing it. "recalling factoids" is not how they work. At all.
Me saying you're wrong about them being an economic threat isn't a strawman. It's me disagreeing about the severity of the issue. You having an ignorant opinion is not me strawmanning you. It's me calling you ignorant.
You're succeeding only in failing to actually underatand what those quotes mean. South Park frequently makes a mockery of people that are not in power nor are aiming to harm anyone. That's directly against Pratchett's quote.
Their incessant need to make fun of everyone also changes them from poignant satire to a giant mess of asshole jokes at everyones' expense, which goes directly against Ivyna's point that satire needs to be done with clarity of purpose and target.
So... no. No, South Park genuinely does not stick to those tenants. I will agree that some of their seasonal overarching stories can mostly qualify as good satire, but they enjoy mocking everyone a bit too much for the bits of good writing to come through unscathed.
You would be right if OP wasn't responding and making it very clear that the generalization is going both ways for OP. They're assuming all feminists think men are generally bad, which isn't the case. Sure, some feminists are judgemental sexists, and one old wave of feminism was based on being angry at men, but it's still wholly ignorant to assume all feminists are sexist (or even most for that matter). It's just some are extremely tactless with their critiques.
That's not feminism. That's sexism, which yes, can also come from self-proclaimed "feminists". In fact, an entire wave of "feminism" was established on the idea of hating on men because it was at a time when women had to be quite outspoken to be heard at all.
Though in modern times, anyone seriously saying "all men bad" is just being an ignorant sexist regardless of their proclaimed beliefs. Don't feed in to their BS by treating them as paragons of feminism. They're just haters who do not understand that feminism needs to include lifting up good men and enabling them to open up.
May as well find some communities to contribute to and try to make inviting, then. Lemmy should have communities for everything, like Reddit does. We just need more people in the interesting niche communities so they can stand out from the constant meme/shitpost flow.
Data storage is a tiny, TINY fraction of a datacenter's power budget. That's just BS "blame the consumer" type of vapid advice from the start.

Sorry, I already had my period at lunch. Maybe later for dinner periods?
