- Lemmy.world is not loading, and I am encountering an error when opening a new page.

Please start by checking the following links to see if Lemmy.world is experiencing any issues:

- I am experiencing an issue with the client I'm using.

Are you using a client other than the website itself? Is the issue specific to that client? If so, please contact the developer of the app or web client you are using.

Here are some popular apps/web clients you can reach out to:

- I am unable to create a community, and I keep seeing a spinning circle.

Please check if the desired community name is available.

- There is a community I want to moderate, but the moderators appear to be inactive.

Please email us at [email protected] or create a post in this community.

- Did we defederate, or did someone else defederate from us?

Visit https://gui.fediseer.com/instances/detail/lemmy.world for information about defederation of any instance.

Alternatively check https://defed.xyz/ and enter "lemmy.world" to view a complete list of defederations.

- I cannot access my account.

For assistance with account access issues, please email us at [email protected]. We cannot assist with these matters in the comments section due to privacy concerns.

- Why am I banned from this specific community?

Lemmy offers transparency, and you can check the modlog of the community to understand the reason behind the ban. If you have further questions, feel free to send a private message to one of the moderators. If you have other issues, please email us at [email protected].

- Can this feature be added to the website?

If you would like to request a feature to be added to Lemmy, please contact the Lemmy developers on GitHub or reach out to the developer of your preferred (web) client. Instances like ours cannot directly add features to the website.

The community currently has no mod and has previously attracted concerning content.

If a suitable volunteer mod who is interested in the community can be found I will happily step aside, however until that time I will moderate the sub in good faith and with clear rules.

Every now and then, Lemmy World sends me an automated DM saying there are unresolved reports in the moderator inbox for the communities I moderate. Every single time, the moderator inbox has not only not shown any indication that it has something in it, it hasn't actually had anything in it.

Not in my app (Jerboa) and not on the website. Replies, mentions and actual DMs properly show up, and notify me. Mod reports don't. You're better off straight up messaging me than reporting posts in communities I serve since I'm always around and the report inbox is busted.

Since uh, there doesn't appear to be a mod there, and there's a junk post.

Unlike Lemmy, Mastodon doesn't have a "URL" field to share a link with preview in the post. Any URL shared is included in the post itself, greatly decreasing its visibility.

Is there a way to post from Mastodon that would set a link as previewed URL ?

Feddit.org has chosen to support the Palestinian genocide and censor ALL speech against Israel or in support of Palestinians.

I call on lemmy.world to support and protect its users by defederating from any instance that chooses to support Nazi ideology, especially when they should know better.

EDIT: Huh. I didn't realize how much of lemmy supported Nazis. I guess this will be my last contribution to the platform.

Developed by tankies, supported by nazis, and a generally condescending and narcissistic user base 🤷‍♂️ good riddance. I hope y'all find some love in the world.

Ever since I noticed a major lag on received items between my personal server and Lemmy.world, I've been keeping an eye on the Grafana federation health overview. Problem is, it's currently stuck in displaying no progress whatsoever since at least May 13 at 17:00 UTC. The problem is not only with my specific instance, but rather with literally all of them (as far as I've tested) - is there being progress in the background anyways, or is there an issue with the backend too? The status page has shown sporadic but self-repairing errors for the last few days, and I'm not sure if it's related anyhow.

Hi team,

This might be one of the nastiest comment sections I've seen on a forum in a long time if ever, this is instagram/youtube comment section tier

etcetc

Thread in question: https://lemmy.world/post/29675035?scrollToComments=true

Just checking if anyone is keeping an eye on things at all ?

I feel like it's just marking the report as Read...is there not a way I can remove a comment from this page?

Do I have to go to the post and scroll down to find it every time? There's a huge backlog of reports from before I got asked to mod

Mod is active on lemmy, however community has been inactive for quite some time. I did post on there a while back, but all content in the community seems to have been deleted since. Last October I sent DMs to the current owner requesting mod/transfer of leadership, however never heard back. I am the founder/mod of c/thrashmetal. Thanks.

Just made a post there: https://lemmy.world/post/29489997

Hello - Please take a look at @[email protected] . They have downvoted every single post in 3 communities (over 200 posts) in a very narrow window of time. They either automated their voting, or they are very focused

The community also suffers from bot spam and AI generated posts.

Someone made a post that is at least irrelevant to [email protected] and is asking people to pay money for their ebook, which would be considered unsolicited advertising, i.e. spam.

edit: If you want to appoint me as mod, that's fine, then I'll take care of it.

Two identical subs? (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 month ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I hope, this is the right place to ask:

I have the sub [email protected]. Now, in my profile, there are two of them; the former and also [email protected] (deleted by creator), which is empty, and I am not even a member, yet I am the moderator.

Might as well be my mistake, but I never noticed it before, so I guess it's a new thing?

Maybe the empty sub could be purged?

Sorry if this is not the right community for the question - this was the first one that came to my mind. I'm just wondering if I'm misinterpreting the meaning of the word 'local' in this context; or this is somehow pretty normal and due to the algorithm (in which case I'd like to know this algorithm a little more); or maybe because it's a bug.

UPDATE: I just reloaded the site, thinking I might have just pressed 'next' one too many times, making the algorithm run out of ideas. At the moment I don't see any more Evanston content, however, this has happened several times before, this is why I decided to write here, because it was the 4th/5th time already.

How can I turn off "Reply from $user" emails from [email protected]?

They can get annoying when a post gets popular and receives a lot of replies.

Mod hasn't posted in a year.

I curate/mod [email protected], so I have a modicum of experience with Lemmy. :)

When attempting to upload a photo on the lemmy.world website, I get the following error:

Why have I been blocked?
This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks. The action you just performed triggered the security solution. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data.

What can I do to resolve this?
You can email the site owner to let them know you were blocked. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page.

I have disabled my VPN, and the image I'm upoading is a photo taken with my iPhone of a Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card. I would post the iCloud link but it has my name in it.

I appreciate that you're trying to prevent spam, but if it's at the cost of normal users not being able to do normal things, then you've lost the battle (and will lose users) and the spammers/scammers have won. Thank you.
