Whether it's economic, cultural, political, religious, ideological, whatever, what are some ideas that you believe in? I think friendly (very important!!) discussion of these could be good as to understand the views of others. Pluralism and the acceptance of many beliefs is generally a good thing.

As long as you don't believe in implausible conspiracy theories or say anything that is listed on the rules of most Lemmy communities and instances (in which case, don't say it), I think the opinions of others should be respected!

Please don't devolve this into a hot political argument, holy war, or similar. It ends badly for world powers (all of them), and it will end badly here with no winning sides. Friendly debate is ok as long as you don't go nuts, make sure you give good supporting arguments with evidence!

In a way that it prevents them from being played except in special software created by the game's developer

I prefer them to still be a bit green, and starting to yellow.

This question is inspired by my father. He is a retired Westerner living in Southeast Asia who is dating two sisters; they are obviously with him for the money, and he outright admits it. Personally, I could never find fulfillment in that kind of arrangement, but I'm curious about how others feel.

Each week I create a 2-2.5 hour block of programming for the family to watch together over a nice breakfast. We call it Sunday Brunch Cartoons, and we're nearly two years into it without missing a day. I'm releasing a full list of our watch queue, with the hopes that you can think of something really good (or memorably bad) that we should include.

No 70s Hanna-Barbera.

It seems like it was uploaded to Dailymotion eleven years ago. I'm looking for this very specific live performance. I could simply run my copy of it through a resolution increasing algorithm, but I thought I'd ask here first. :)

As I noticed, after reading 2-8 thousand words a day, after a few days of reading like this, it becomes very difficult for me to read, and I started reading actively lately, before that I only watched TV shows and movies, and now I have a slight headache, the text is floating, I even confuse words. In fact, that's why I used to read very little, and now I'm so tired of TV shows and movies that I'm willing to force myself to read, even if I have a headache, to become emotionally attached to books instead of just consuming like zombie like I used to.

A friend of mine was in the States for two weeks, added credit to his Uber account and is now back in Europe. Uber Europe won't accept the credit as it's a different region, and he can't withdraw it, or can't figure out how to withdraw it, because he's in a different region.

He's going to try a VPN set to the US where he was, and hopefully that will work for withdrawing it. But does anyone know of a way that he can get his cash back? Over $230 left in it.

He didn't use Uber as much as he thought he would need to, and had topped it up with credit once over there after advice he got from somebody else. I don't know anything else, but that's how he got to this..

For example, I first heard Suburban Legends - Polyester, so I went to check Suburban Legends and they were just a regular ska band.

What's your "that song was great, I wish the band did more of that" song and band?

I don't remember if it was always was like, this but this happened to me with two different microwaves in two different houses. It mostly happens when touch the top of the microwave, but it can happen with the door too.

I though that it was just something unavoidable with microwaves and didn't mention it to anyone, but today i decided to tell my mom and, she said never had any microwave electrocute, same goes for my sisters.

My little sister did comment that i have high energy(what they call my ADHD) as the probable causes. I don't really that possible but i have discovered weird things about my biology before(e.g if i leave my computer screen on in my room, i can feel its heat even under the blanket and cant sleep).

Update: I still do not know why i get shocked while my doesn't. I told my sister to touch the mirror door and she didn't feel anything, then i put my hand next to hers and we both get shocked. I have a theory that's its cuz i am very hairy? Either way, i am told there are lot of possible causes

What music would play when you walk into a room if you had your own theme music?

ContextI'm a writer, but I'd like to be a comic book artist. I’ve been trying to learn how to draw on and off for years. At first, I felt like I didn’t have the talent for it, but looking back at what I’ve done in previous years, I think my problem is more about motivation. I just don’t find the same fulfillment in drawing as I do in writing. I’d like to find a way to break through this imaginary barrier...

I was thinking about Jeep drivers and the whole duck thing. But what about you Kia Sportage drivers? You got a club? Is there a Secret Brotherhood of Chevy Traxers?

I have euro coins that are damaged by storing in wrong plastics and I want to post a picture of it.

I am not sure if a coin collecting community already exist. Maybe I used the wrong search terms.

If there is not an established coin group, where can I post that picture?

(Also I am not interested creating and moderating a new community just because of one post)

I keep seeing 444 everywhere or 4444.

My bank transactions are mostly 4s and my bank balance equated to 444.

What is the universe telling me?

Personally, I think I’m pretty adventurous. I love music and my library has thousands of artists across dozens of genres like classic rock, new wave, Motown, smooth jazz, shoegaze, drum & bass, prog rock, hip hop, and more. Hitting ‘shuffle all’ is a recipe for absolute chaos.

I love finding new artists and connections between them (solo projects, supergroups, samples, etc), and every 5-10 years I discover a whole new genre and enjoy going down the rabbit hole. I have all-time favourites, but listening to the same thing for too long drives me crazy.

By contrast, my wife only ever really listens to 2 or 3 different artists and somehow never gets bored of listening to the same few albums on repeat for literal years.

Where do others fall on that spectrum? Do you feel the need to constantly seek out new music, or are you the kind of person who prefers settling into a groove long-term?

I recall when Russia wanted to purchase oil from the UAE, but due to sanctions Russia can't conduct the transaction in dollars (often or not is used as the intermediary). Instead the Dirham was used as a replacement currency to acquire it, however it involved exchanging each other's currency. I mean, why can't just countries use each other's own currency to purchase oil to steer away from the petro-dollar?

In that case, counties will just exchange each other's money directly (like for instance if Germany wants oil from Oman, then the transaction is done via Rial to Euro and vice versa) would that mean it'll be a multipolar economy since each nation uses their own currency to pay for the imports rather than using US Dollars so much? That was the move BRICS used on them trying to not rely on USD a lot.

My ISPs DNS lookup takes literally one second every time, so I went with Quad9, it really sped up my browsing. Do you know any other alternatives?
