back when i started with Linux, i would distro hop in the beginning since i was trying out different ones, making mistakes, but taking that knowledge with me onto the next one. Then i discovered Manjaro, then EndeavourOS and have been on it for years now

Have thought about reinstalling EOS once i rebuild my computer, but see how that goes -

Not a true alternative, but I love Freetube. Just for the fact that I don't have to have an account tied to it with no ads and sponsor ads is nice.

Lately there's been connection issues but usually gets resolved with 2-3 days.

Even works on my raspberry pi.

About 10 days ago I noticed a baby fry (believe its a guppy) and now there's 3 more! Funny thing is that I took this picture earlier this morning and now there's another one! So I now have 5 baby guppies!!!

Got back in to this hobby about a year ago. Currently only have a 20 gallon tank, which houses 12 fishes, making it a community tank.

Things have been great but have to admit I have lost some due to not knowing what I was doing.

Fast forward and things have calmed down, without any others dying. Nitrate has been a constant battle which has led me to weekly water changes (50%). Also as of late but cutting how much I feed them in basically in half.

What it seems to be happening is that one of my Goldfish who is currently all white (used to be gray) is now turning orange. Is this normal?

Not trying to be rude here, but it does say "by EFF technologists" when installing the extension. Also their welcome page for the extension after installing it, states "" A project of the EFF".

I hope these things are read beforehand and just not skipped, ignored or just installed quickly before taking some time to look around / researched.

One reason I shop at Aldi's. Their cashiers sat down. I respect that. I shop there.

Top two for me are Freetube and KDE Connect.

Sharing files (and all the other features) with KDE Connect across 2 devices on same network has never been so easier.

Hey guys,

New community that i created couple months back, and just getting around trying to generate content in here. Thought i would start by creating some posts, engage with the community and try to build it out.

For me, i got involved with Cardsmith's Currency Series 1 when it was released and really enjoyed hunting for a full pack, and sometimes getting lucky with some gem cards. In fact, my second pack, included a Ruby #50 - Rekt, labeled 2/25. Crazy to think that there are only 25 cards like this out there. Ill post a picture of it here sometime soon.

Anyway, just trying to generate some content in here

Is anyone interested in Currenency Series 2? Looks like they are being released September 15!

Series 1 was an interesting run, which i was able to grab a Ruby card. Will be looking in purchasing some of these when they get release

Not the best picture possible, but i believe i have total 2 male Red Gold's and one female, with the female being pictured here. I purchased a separation net, just in case and shes doing fine.

Signs that show this may be true

  • Other fish were following her around, poking at her
  • Red bottom area, getting darker
  • More of a "boxy" stomach area

Just switched to EndeavourOS about a week ago from Manjaro and been liking it so far.

Biggest reason for the change was my manjaro install was getting cluttered, and moving over to a new distro ( taking all my previous knowledgement with it) has been a blessing.

Beforehand, my Manjaro install was EFI, whereas my Windows 11 drive ( yes I know) was UEFI so switching on boot was an issue. Now both are on UEFI and show up within Grub.

Endeavor OS has bluetooth turned off by default. Thought there was an issue but nope.

So from no issues with updating, even with AUR turned on.

I just like starting fresh and setting things up with all my previous knowledge.

Number 1 rule is to try it out on a second phone. Do not try with your current phone. Just don't.

Second rule : read the first rule again.

In all seriousness, I have had so much fun with mobile Linux OS's, trying out different phones and OS's but there's a deep learning curve and at the end of the day, there is not one that is completely ready to be use as a daily driver or have all the apps that I need - looking at you DUO Mobile (2fa).

However there is /e/OS, where is degoogled, has a built in tracker blocker and uses microG. Use it as a daily driver on my One plus 6t but its technically still Android. Someone did mentioned Murena, same OS.

Buy a cheap supported phone off of EBay and have a go. If you have any questions, let me know.

Hey community,

Just found this community earlier today and need some help. Last week i purchased this tank (starter kit that came with everything) for a good price and wanted to get back into aquariums. After filling up the tank with water and letting it "cycle", thought it would be a good time to add some fish.

I was handed some test stripes from a local shop and when tested, it seemed to pass all the tests. Last night i bought 8 fish (4 neon tetras, 2 Red-gold guppies and 2 algee eaters). Things seemed to be fine until i checked on them this morning.

All of the neon tetras had died. 2 of them were floating and two of them havent been counted for. As i prepare the decreased ones a proper burial at the upstairs bathroom, I wanted to reach out to the community and see what i did wrong, how to improve to sustain a healthy environment for them.

Please let me know any recommendations, clearly the information here isnt enough, so i can update the information when needed.

Thanks,

Highlights

  • New heart rate processing algorithm, provides more accurate and faster results
  • New memory management (heap unification)

  • Weather integration in PineTimeStyle watch face

  • Power optimizations

  • Bug fix in shake wake

  • InfiniSim : New status window

Improved heart rate algorithm

The improved signal processing algorithm for the heart rate sensor was contributed by @Ceimour. They reworked the signal processing code that converts the raw values returned by the sensor, and also fine-tuned the senor settings. All in all, this new algorithm should return results faster (6.4s) and more often (each 800ms) than the previous one. You'll find more information about this change in this comment by Ceimour. New memory management aka Heap Unification

InfiniTime was previously allocating 3 memory "heaps" (memory area managed by software modules) : one for FreeRTOS, one for LVGL and one "global" heap allocated by the C++ standard library. To make memory usage more efficient, and to make the monitoring of the memory usage easier, we merged these 3 heaps into a single one managed by FreeRTOS. This change allows us to have a better overview of the memory usage and reduces the overhead generated by multiple heaps.

Weather in PTS

The ground work in the form of the weather service was introduced in InfiniTime 1.8. It enables companion applications to send weather information, which is then available in InfiniTime for processing and display.

However, apart from a debug application (which is not available in released versions), InfiniTime did not display this information... until now. Thanks to @kieranc, the watch face PineTimeStyle now displays the weather forecast sent by the companion app. Please see the documentation on the Pine64 wiki here and here.

Improved battery life

Following @aykevl's recommendations on the wiki, we were able to reduce the idle power consumption down to around 200µA, where it would use ~900µA previously! The PineTime can now easily run more than 10 days, while it would need to be recharged after 3-5 days previously!

The status window in InfiniSim was redesigned and now displays the status of BLE connection, brightness, charger, battery and alarm much more clearly!

Notes about this update

The resource file was not updated since InfiniTime 1.12, you don't need to update it if you already flashed the file from the previous release.

Been watching over the recent surge in fediverse users for about a week now. Last week, it was climbing what i would call naturally, organically. Now for the last couple days, its been like 350k in the last 2 days.

Love to see the growth of users, but these have to be bot created accounts. I dont want this to be bot infested community. I see the value in bots when used correctly, but lets be real - general population and bots could ruin this community.

Is there anything planned? Is there work from some third party to throw off the "stableness" of Lemmy / fediverse?
