DAY 8 UPDATE: $75 more and I can get this hammered out this weekend. Thanks again for all the support! <3

DAY 7 UPDATE: So close I can taste it, thank you to everyone who was able to help! I just need this last $100 and I'll have enough to pay the neighbor to fix this damn thing. I'm so relieved that it's so close, I've been nervous about it after this weekend, luckily it looks like this weekend will be clear weather so it'll be the perfect time to fix it too. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this last push <3 <3 <3

DAY 6 UPDATE: The weekend storm flooded my living area again sadly, on the upside though, I had a friend pitch in some funds, so with what she was able to do and what the kind comrades were able to here a few days ago, I am only $150 away from paying the neighbor to repair this damn roof on my tipout. I appreciate any help you can give, comrades! I can't wait to not have to shovel water anymore and have a dry living room again ;D

DAY 3 UPDATE: Rained pretty hard last night, not as bad as the initial storm, but nonetheless had to deal with cleaning up a bunch of water this morning. Thanks to whoever it was that sent the $75, now just need to get to $275 and I'll have this crap over with, it's def getting old lol

DAY 2 UPDATE: Rained again last night and was super nervous, but luckily not too hard, still the rainy season though so there could be a deluge coming and any moment.

Thanks again comrades, I look forward to any support that'll help get me out of this craziness <3

I live on a mountain side in a fifth wheel with a tip out and we frequently have pretty bad rainstorms. Well, yesterday evening we had the worst one since I've been there. I wasn't home, but came home that evening to see the aftermath.

I opened the door and the roof had completely fallen in, well, it's the thin material that overlays a foam board and plywood, the week before the foam board had fallen in, but I have barely been able to even cover rent and figured it could wait until this summer when I can start a second job.

That side of the tip out has no covering at all thin or otherwise, and the tarp had fallen in with probably 7-8 gallons of water and spilt more all over the floor. I didn't know what to do, so I just tried shoveling the water out with a bucket, which worked until part of the tarp fell down and flooded all that water into my living room and dining area. Basically I had to push it out with a mop until the floor was only partially wet and then mop the rest up with all of my towels.

Now, I basically have a skylight where, if it rains like that again, and most likely will, will just pour all the rain unhindered into my place and I have no way to pay for it to get fixed anytime soon which is super bad for my living room area.

The neighbor is a carpenter and said he'd do it for $350, materials and labor, but there's no way I can swing that anytime in the next month, I'm barely covering rent with my pay as it is.

So, if you comrades could help me out I'd be much obliged, I don't want my place to be a swimming pool again lol

You guys have helped me so much in the past, and I hate to have to ask again, but I honestly have nowhere else to turn, it's a small town with no place that provides any aid. I appreciate anything that anyone can contribute.

I just grabbed HoI IV just recently, but am kind of daunted by the game so far, I tried the in game tutorial briefly, but it didn't give me a good idea on what the hell I was doing, I felt like I was reading gibberish. I did download the Hearts of Iron IV 2025-2026 beginner guide video on youtube, but haven't had the time to watch it just yet, and am aware of the wiki too. I'm wondering what current players feel like the best resources for a beginner to get into the game are? I appreciate any help and look forward to tackling the game and it making sense because it looks and sounds awesome ;)

So I recently started and have been struggling to figure out the right amount of veggies to get without them going bad before I get to eating them. Are there any preservation tips or buying strategies you guys have used to prevent this? Also any other tips other than just plain preservation are welcome too since I am pretty new to this way of eating.

God, the US media apparatus is so blantantly propaganistic it's a wonder that people fall for this shit. I am constantly facepalming everytime I see news from the big networks. And people have the gall to deride other places for propaganda when we are literally the most propagandized population on the planet.

A big thank you to everyone that was able to help! I'm so relieved, this has been a hell of a week, but thanks to all of you amazing people that ends today. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart <3

Day 8 and I don't know how much more of this I can take comrades. I've had to call out all week and am so anxious about possibly losing this job, so far my manager has been generous but I don't know how long that'll last, not to mention all of the money I'm not making which puts me in a bigger bind the more time goes by. My sanity is cracking to from having to endure this agony day after day. I am starting to lose it.

(Day 7 and I'm in so much pain I can't even think anymore, please help. I can't take this anymore, please help, comrades :'( )

(Day 6 and I wish this would end, ai have even think let alone keep posting)

(Day 5 and I am in constant unremitting pain. I went to the ER last night and the only thing they could give me was Tylenol 3 and recommend I get an extraction of my two wisdom teeth immediately. If anyone is able to please, please help. I don't want to lose my job over this and can't stand being in constant agony.)

(Day 4 of this and I can hardly sleep or do anything right now. This is complete madness. I just want this to end soon and go back to work.)

(Reposted from yesterday. The pain is so bad that I've been laid out in bed and had to call out of work this morning. I can't believe how bad this is.)

It genuinely pains me to have to be back on here again so soon after I was so graciously helped last time, but I don't know where else to turn.

Work has been going great and I am finally able to cover my rent without worry this month. But I've hit a huge snag this past week as I've developed excruciating tooth pain on the left and right sides of my upper teeth.

After a consultation at the local dentist they said I had severe decay of my wisdom teeth on those two sides and need to be extracted.

The giant problem is that I absolutely can't cover the cost they quoted me, which is a staggering $625 since my insurance doesn't cover it, and still cover my rent this month. I wish I could just wait it out but the pain is so bad that I can't even do my job. I was sent home by my manager yesterday because he saw how bad it was and how I could barely function at doing simple tasks. Even typing out this post is incredibly hard. I hate to have to ask here for help again so soon but this is threatening my job if I can't figure something out asap. If anyone can please help me out I couldn't thank you enough.

Thanks again, comrades <3

White trash is more than that, it's typically referring to really crude, crass people that have a lack of common decency and have entitlement issues. Source: lived at many trailer parks and this kind of person is prevailent. There are many good people at trailer parks but there's a certain type that are really some of the most revolting people you can meet.

From the quick google searches I did there is no evidence that either Siegel or Shuster ever discussed Israel. Shuster died in '92 and Siegel in '96, so they we're definitely around during the time. Apparently, from what I can find, they were both secular Jews too, so I don't think they would be pro-Zionist in any way, but who's to say? I can only go off of what kind of material they were writing for Superman at the time, which had very strong progressive (some have even called the early Superman 'Socialist Superman') values. It doesn't seem to me that that kind of sentiment transfers well to a hyper-nationalistic state like Israel, or even the US for that matter. I think they were just two kids that hated injustice (I believe it was Jerry's father that was gunned down in a robbery).

[-] wolfinthewoods@hexbear.net 42 points 9 months ago

I, for one, salute James Gunn for making the bold move to make such a timely political statement in a superhero movie of all things, BUT especially a SUPERMAN movie. Superman would completely step in to stop a genocide, and it's such a fantastic way to point out the fact that this atrocity is literally supervillain levels of evil that, yes, a superhero WOULD fucking come to save those people. And you have to ask yourself, if you're siding with this abysmally evil country against Superman of all heroes, what does that make you? I have no doubt that Siegel and Shuster (Supes' creators) would themselves take a stand against Israel's actions, even though they were Jewish, they were front in center to the atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis that they'd no doubt draw the parallels immediately, and probably would be horrified at the things that are done in the name of Jewish people.

Also: I love, love, LOVE, seeing those sweet Zionist tears flow as each and every one of them has a meltdown watching Superman ...being, well, Superman and saving the fucking day from evil assholes.

[-] wolfinthewoods@hexbear.net 25 points 9 months ago

I am a big Superman fan and I can't tell you how wrong this take is. Yes, certain comics portray Superman as friend and believer in the "American Way" and as sometimes ally of the US military. However, those takes are far from the normal status quo. Of course you get particularly liberal-minded writers who frequently use that take. However, those writers are the exception rather than the rule. Hell, the most famous instance of Superman being a government shill came from Frank Miller in The Dark Knight which is such a poor take on Superman as to be parody. Miller famously hates Superman and found a way to character assassinate him and have Batman beat the shit out of him (laughable). Frequently the US government and Superman are at odds with each other and Superman regularly defies them even going so far as to directly stop their actions.

Superman got his start as someone that opposed societal oppression in all it's forms. In one golden age story Superman literally tears down a dilapidated tenement building being run by a slumlord who was extorting his tenants and refusing repairs, finding proper housing for the folks and forcing the slumlord to sell to the city to build something suitable. In another story Superman poses as a miner and goes undercover to expose a ruthless businessman exploiting his workers at the mine.

If Superman existed in the real world he definitely would be horrified at the actions of Israel and I have no doubt he'd step in. That's actually a big point in the movie as he causes an international incident by stepping into stop troops from murdering civilians in a nation that is an obvious stand-in for Israel (it even had it's own completely obvious pastiche of Netanyahu who meets a grisly fate at the end). At the end of the day these are American comics, by writers of various political and social backgrounds that will sometimes use Superman as a tool of patriotism and fundamentally misrepresent the essence of the character. It's going to happen from time to time (pretty sure I just read an issue of Action Comics recently that made me cringe with the writer's sucking-off of the military).
