Let's say hypothetically I wanted to post this video to make fun of it:

This person is an elected official, so he's not an anonymous reactionary. But this clearly doesn't belong in "pop culture" because it's not pop culture at all. Where should I post this
I forgot the pop culture comm existed
Look, we had a ton of arguments about this, and I think the consensus reached by the userbase is that we all want one com for making fun of reactionaries generally, and their posts.
Again, not at all arguing against banning contrapoints posts at all. (Unless she does something REALLY funny, but I doubt that she will)
Okay, well, there's a post making fun of JD Vance for lecturing the Pope at the top of the comm, and I'd hope that you wouldn't ban posts like that.
TBH I don't think there's any need to justify banning contrapoints posts because they're rage bait, because I don't know if they even are- I can't read her mind. It's just that her posts are just her being an asshole in a very boring and predictable way, and it's not really that fun to make fun of. Trying to ban "rage bait" presumes that the mods have an ability to perfectly discern the motives of whoever gets posted here, and that's not really a good framework.
Slop is meant to be for posts from random internet users or other lemmy instances, not posts from people with actual influence over a significant number of people.
Okay, I agree with banning contrapoinst posts because it's been just too much, but this is absolutely NOT what the whole site agreed to after several struggle sessions over this very issue. Please don't just arbitrarily change the purpose of the entire comm over a couple of annoying posts without talking to the userbase, because that's the exact behavior that has led to a lot of arguments in the past.
After a chaotic morning in the Strait of Hormuz, both sides have gone completely quiet.
Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz again and President Trump said he won't be "blackmailed" by Iran.
As of Friday, markets were expecting the US and Iran to meet for the second time on Sunday.
As of right now, there is no meeting planned and the ceasefire ends in 3 days.
We continue to believe that both sides will ultimately work toward a deal, as this pre-deal turbulence has been observed many times in previous conflicts involving President Trump.
US stock market futures open in 24 hours and both sides know this.
All signs point to a highly eventful Sunday ahead.

Hegseth: "A note to the American media. I just can't help but notice the endless stream of garbage, the relentlessly negative coverage you cannot resist peddling despite the historic and important success of this effort and the success of our troops. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what side some of you are actually on. It's incredibly unpatriotic."
