After discussing this with the people most often using the mutual aid community and feedback here we will be making a single change.

Meta posts will no longer be permitted in [email protected] critical meta posts must not be about specific users and posted in [email protected] at risk of removal.

We will change the mutual aid sidebar to remove the clause permitting meta posts, we will also ask that users post once a day so that everyone's post's can be seen but this is not a hard rule as it is pretty clear that removing posts is a last resort in that community. This joins the other community recommendations that users include currency, how much is needed, updating when a user has received funds, or updating/locking the post when the need has been met.

This will be unfeatured in about 12 hours

But there are a lot of ppl who were banned or need to be banned who only participate in the news thread and go on the main site to stir up shit lol. • Make the site account creation process require an invite or someone to vouch for you. Or start logging IP addresses, idk. Have the server pipe log output to a program that greps for them, sends a copy over a encrypted connection to a . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . securer . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . machine that the admins control directly, and sends the rest to /dev/null, something, anything. Here's a hot take: power posters CAN be good.

It means literally nothing for your opsec that you delete your account periodically. We have a wrecker (I can't find the source for this rn) who has admitted that they have a server federated to us, which means they SEE and SAVE EVERYTHING. Who upvotes what, what actions moderators have taken, the polite requests to delete stuff local users deleted (for a while, post deletions didn't even federate lmao)

An open source project the size of Lemmy needs constant work to manage the project, implement new features and fix bugs. Dessalines and I work full-time on these tasks and more. As there is no advertising or tracking, all of our work is funded through donations. Unfortunately the amount of donations has decreased to only 2000€ per month. If you want more information before donating, consider the comparison with Reddit. It began as startup funded by rich investors. The site is managed by corporate executives who over time have become more and more disconnected from normal users. Their main goal is to make investors happy and to make a profit. Lemmy represents a new type of social media which is the complete opposite of Reddit. Dessalines and I work fulltime on Lemmy to keep up with all the feature requests, bug reports and development work. Even so there is barely enough time in the day, and no time for a second job. Previously I sometimes had to rely on my personal savings to keep developing Lemmy for you, but that can't go on forever. We partly rely on NLnet for funding, but they only pay for development of new features, and not for mandatory maintenance work. The only available option are user donations. Seeing as the feddit moderation team's policies clearly do not align with our own stances on transphobia, bigotry, and reactionary rhetoric generally, we are considering two different options, with feedback requested for whichever route you would prefer (NOTE: we are primarily concerned with how trans users and other marginalized groups feel):

- Unilaterally defederate from feddit.uk due to lax enforcement of rules against transphobia and their admin citing the recent UK anti-trans court ruling as one of the reasons for this

- Remain federated with the instance at large while banning their admins, mods and any transphobic users, along with those who violate Hexbear CoC generally (the same way we handled issues with dbzero a while back)
